The power it has, and the fuel mileage.
2005 Dodge Stratus Review:
I have a 2005 with a 2.7 engine. I have 114,000 miles on it. It has been serviced at 3k to 4k intervals since it was new. Had to have a water pump installed at around 95k, but that is to be expected with high mileage engines. The engine still doesn't use oil. Gets good fuel mileage, 21 city, 28 highway. Fun to drive, quick, and nimble. Hope to have it another 3 to 4 years.

Pros: What do you like about 2005 Dodge Stratus?
Roomy. Has enough room for my lacrosse gear in trunk.
It's reliable. I drive 800 miles one way every month from school back home to my parents. I got this car brand new in 06 and have not had any problems with it. Just routine maintenance.
Great gas mileage on the 2.7 liter V6. I'm averaging about 30 mpg hwy.
Overall an amazing car.
Cons: How would you improve 2005 Dodge Stratus?
It's ugly. The paint is peeling off on the roof.
Tons of road noise on interstate.
Not enough room for my friends in back seat.
I wish it had more gadgets.
2005 Dodge Stratus Review:
I recommend it. My parents got my twin brother the coupe one... it sucks. Get the sedan. It's way better.

The styling, I own a 05 Stratus coupe SXT with the "Special Edition" package. Fell in love with it first time I saw it. I added some hot racing stripes and slap Daytona Logos on lower doors and now everyone thinks I have a Dodge Daytona, it's a head turner for sure. My Strat Coupe handles great when you match the right tires with the car. It could use a touch of more power with the 2.4 4 cylinder Mitsubishi engine in it. But still can get up and go. As I'm getting older sliding down into the seat is starting to be a bit trouble-some but worth it. I bought it with 50,000 miles on it 4 years ago and now my Strat has 100,388, and I can't complain, Just keep it service and it will never let you down. I also like the 30mpg I still get, now bad for a 6 yr old car. Can't beat that with high price of fuel these days...
Cons: How would you improve 2005 Dodge Stratus?
Add a bit more power. Improve on the current V6 that are in the RT's. Other than that, not more I could see.

Needs more power, perhaps a sporty version along with the non-sporty ones on the side.

I love the first Dodge I brought in 2000, but after 6 years, the fuel pump caught a fire and it ruined the wire under the hood.
The second Dodge Stratus 2005 was not loyal. It was pre owned from dealership with little over 78000 miles. This car only lasted me 3 years with the monthly oil changes and yearly maintenance.
In May I brought my car to the Dodge service department because it cut off while I was driving and they could not find anything wrong. December 27, 2010 after the warranty was out my Stratus cut off again, but this time the motor was gone.
To make my long story short I have no warranty and still owe the bank a little less than $4000.00 and the repair to fix my car is over $5500.00. I asked the service writer what could cause this problem: He said "poor maintenance". I have every oil change paper but it did not help my case.
Cons: How would you improve 2005 Dodge Stratus?
I am so disgusted with this car now and maker of Dodge, that I have nothing good to say.....

The look is great, but mostly the room and not a grandpa looking car.
And rides really well.

I just bought my car from a private party, and passenger window is making noise, and some other nosies I haven't figured out yet.

I love the look you the stratus. I have a kid and needed a car that was big enough to carry her stuff and a sporty look, not a grandpa look. This car was perfect.

The 4 cylinder 2.4 needs more power.
The non warranted parts are failing at 38,000 miles. The front wheel bearings, power window controls fell into the door, fuel pump failed, tie rods needed to be replaced, front axle needed to be replaced, boots around front axle rotted away. It's made very cheaply.
2005 Dodge Stratus Review:
I had two Chrysler Corporation cars and I won't buy another one. According to Consumer Reports, Honda and Toyota are the way to go.

I have 205,000 miles on this car - The truth - assuming you take care of the car is that if you have the 2.4 you will love this car. If you ordered yours with the 2.7 you will hate it. I bought mine with the 2.4 and have had no problems. The 2.7 has built in problems and will give out early - dealers won't cover you without oil change receipts - Avoid this engine upgrade.

No power seats without leather - early rust problems on passenger rear door - had it replaced.

I own a 2004 Dodge Stratus SXT 2.4 DHOC 4 Door; I love the design and also the interior looks good. Good on gas mileage.
Cons: How would you improve 2005 Dodge Stratus?
I was using 92 octane gasoline in my car. I had a lot of problems when I use 92 octane; because the car could not handle it; the manual books recommends 87 octane gasoline and do not use MMT octane boosters. I got great gas mileage after 2 full tanks of regular unleaded. If you need a fuel system cleaner; I use lucas fuel injection clear and it's safe and well known by mechanics.

A lot of times when we buy cars from dealerships or private buyers; and not realize that sometimes people do take not take care of there car. And it gives the brand your buying a bad name. It's all about how well you take care of our car; but sometimes it is also the manufacture flaws.
