TERRIBLE FADING OF MY 2006 (AND 2003) BODY CLADDING AND PANELS ON TRUCK BED. TAIL GATE LOCK DOESN'T WORK, FAILED INSPECTION FOR "RUSTED FRONT AND REAR BRAKE ROTORS" WITH 28,000 MILES ON IT. TIRES DOWN TO 3/32" AND PADS JUST ABOUT DONE- ALL IN 28,000 MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. MANUFACTURER LESS THAN HELPFUL. FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS FAILED, TRUCK IS ONE BIG MONEY PIT AND AVAILABILITY OF DECENT MECHANICS AT A DEALER IS RARE.

The Avalanche is the best vehicle that I ever owned.As far as bad gas milage I average 20mpg in a stock 06 just don't stomp on the pedal.

Eliminate the three panel covers for the bed in favor of a retractible hard cover.

I own a 2002 Avalanche. Similar features though. You could eliminate the cladding from 2003 on.

The split the back does is one of them, but my very favorite is the integrated coolers in the bed. All my friends get excited when I open those up.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche?
May put those little round mirrors as stock for backing up. Truck seems so thick in the rearend that it is hard to back up and park. How about an automatic sliding rear window that hides itself behind the back seats! Automatic tailgate opener.

I knew the second I started the engine and pulled away from the dealership that this was the truck for me. It is so stylish and eyecatching. Big, beautiful and red. It is so quiet and comfortable I can not say enough nice things about it, only one negative, it seems so wide and hard to parrellel park. I can not wait to take it out on a long haul with my horses attached and finally feel some comfort with style.
