Nice looking truck BUT THAT'S AS FAR AS IT GOES.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
At 60,300 miles while driving down the interstate in 2 wheel mode at about 85 miles per hour, the transfer case model np243d blew up. Not quit, locked up, blew up into little pieces all over the highway.
When I bought this truck it was a toss up between a Silverado or this. I have always been a Chevy man but I am close to retirement and I thought this would be the last.
The warranty does not cover the transfer case as I did not buy extra warranty. So it has been parked for close to a year as it has taken that long to find a transfer case close to where I live.
I have installed the transfer case, but now the rear drive shaft needs replacement as when the transfer case blew, it warped the drive shaft. So I am planning on getting that soon and this fine piece of automotive ingenuity will be paid off soon and then it is going straight to be traded in on either a Silverado or a Ford and I hate Fords. But my wife has a 1998 Ford Expedition that has never given a lick of trouble. FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS BUY DODGE.

The push button 4 wheel drive is nice and the exterior looks nice and tough.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
The mpg could be better, not to mention 3 transfer cases, a drive shaft, u joints and other problems. I had lots of love for Dodge but not anymore.

Enabling 4 wheel drive and better support from Dodge would be nice. They don't back what they sell..very disappointing!

I have an 06 1500 quad big horn 4x4.
My first dodge, I like ALMOST everything about it, and I work for GM!
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
Front fascia is too low needs to be higher!
It is almost like they gave most of the power to the hemi trucks and just said good enough for the 4.7 trucks like mine, It doesn't have great power at all!

Could get better gas mileage. Mine is ave.. 15mpg, but I'm happy with it. Good all around truck!

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Review:
I have taken EXTREMELY good care of this truck but in two years my air conditioning has failed, the rear end differential has failed twice, and the transmission has just gone out. I have 61,000 miles on this truck. My Dad has a Toyota Tundra. He has over 100,000 miles on it and he has NEVER EVER had one bit of trouble. Dodge doesn't give a CRAP what a load of crap they have produced and will do nothing. I spent $2,300 each time I fixed the rear end. $400 to fix air and over $700 to fix transmission. Before you buy a Dodge Ram 1500 think if you want to risk this. Yeah you will see some good reviews but trust me I know two others who are as equally dissappointed as I am in their Ram 1500 trucks.

Transmission sucks. Dodge needs to improve their trannys.
Stock shocks are easly shot after a year or so. Cheaply made.

This is my first dodge. I'm a Chevy guy. But the past year Dodge/Chrysler were practically giving their cars away. The dodge has grown on me, it offers plenty of power for anything you want to do. I would fully recommend this truck to anyone in the market.

This is the first dodge I have ever owned,It took me a while to get use to the looks of it (I let my wife pick it out) But being the truck lover that I am I park in the yard and accept the compliments of the passer bys. It does have a nice stance to it. I like the horsepower as long as it is not in over drive. I like the 20 in. rubber and chrome rims. They are hard to keep clean. But they look good.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
If I were to improve on this vehicle, I would remove the sensor that puts it into a 4 cylinder. A vehicle this weight does not get good fuel mileage on 4 cylinders. My 1500 Sport is 4 wheel drive and with 20 in. rubber it is very hard to keep on the road, when it snows or after an Ice storm. I think a limited slip posi-traction could be very benifical for a truck this size.

I have a dodge 2006 with the hemi mds. I like the performance, and sleek tough design. I also like the steering and handling and braking power. And the tow haul package matches and even beats the other pickups. And it is absolutely quiet. Can hardly hear it run with the big hemi I have in it. And is especially quiet inside the cab.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
One thing you can improve on is the seatbelt. It inconveniently keeps tucking itself in behind the seat when you get out. And when you get back in, if you don't remember to put the belt up on the seat before you get back in, then you have to reach behind the seat with little room to grab it every single time. A bit of a pain if you ask me.
2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Review:
I have had a 1996 and a 2001 dodge ram in the past, all which was new. I love the trucks I've had. They both had the 5.2 318 engine. But I have to say that this truck I have now beats them both by a landslide. The power is better, and acceleration that tops both my other trucks that I have had in the past. It is a safer truck and a more reliable truck. And the crash rating far surpasses the others I have had. The quietness in the cab is an experience all should try out. The acceleration at a stop light leaves all others so far still sitting at the last light. The steering is better than the last trucks, and the great braking power makes you feel safe.
