Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Message system is informative. Seats are comfortable. Pickup, when you need extra acceleration, with the combined effort of the gas and electric engine is impressive. The safety package with side curtain airbags and seat deployed airbags is an excellent option to have.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Rear cargo area carpet won't stay down when you need to slide heavy objects in or out of the cargo area. A Gentex style auto-dimming mirror with compass/temp and a maplight would have been a great addition.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Traded in my 4WD pick-up that got 15 mpg. Wanted to get this vehicle last winter, but there was no real availability in my area at that time. I have had it for a month and have driven about 2,500 miles and overall I am very pleased. I have averaged 30 mpg for all types of driving. I had to install a back-up alarm because when this vehicle is operating on electric you can't hear anything but the tires moving. I didn't get much for options because I have a Garmin Street Pilot GPS system. I take the vehicle out on backwoods roads to take me to hiking locations and it is a bit weird to roll along with no engine noise. People often stop to inquire about it and I'm always glad to inform them.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
I love the body style, the look of the truck the sound system is good, gas usage is ok. I am not getting what I had hoped for (but that could be due to problems that I am having with the particular vehicle). My husband loves the nav system (must be a male thing!)

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
More tilt in the tilt steering, auto lights should be standard. The headrests in the back block my view leaving a big blind spot. Back window is also too small I think. Y'all need to build more soon to give consumers more exterior color choices, and other options! Wish I had the sunroof...<sighs>

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
I traded in a Lincoln Continental over Labor Day weekend and have had it in the shop twice already. While on a trip I had the electrical hazard warning light come on, and thus far, Ford has flown up engineers to look at the vehicle to no avail. It makes an ungodly whiny/grindy noise when moving forward. I can't fill the gas tank up completely, and the RPMs went crazy while on my trip. The transition between gas and electric is not seamless, and sometimes the electric motor does NOT kick in when going under 25 mph or at stop lights, etc. I believe in the Hybrid, wanted it, gave up lots that I had with the Lincoln but I do believe I got a lemon. I just want one that works!

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Really glad we got it. Good for the environment (eventually we will all have hybrids). Wanted an suv but not the lousy mileage. Getting about 29-30 mpg in the first 1500 miles (pretty much all city stuff). The technology is unbelievable. Could only get $1k off sticker but even that was good comparatively. No hesitation about getting this car.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Design, tight feel, swift, economical, and so quiet, so can enjoy the onboard sound system. I love the GPS Navigation too. Gone from the "putt-putt" age to the cool, smooth "space age". Nice job Ford!

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Give new drivers a class on how to get best economy. Provide an extra "valet" key.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
I wanted 4WD but with electric hybrid performance, and this is what Ford Escape delivers. A fun vehicle to drive, great pick-up, but must be easy on the revs to get higher mpg; watch the in-dash screen, which becomes a kind of game of "drive different" for best economy. Really like this new SUV, meets all my expectations.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Comfort Styling and Economy.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Larger fuel tank, better NAV, better speaker performance, better handling (too much understeer) and produce a diesel/ electric hybrid which would probably get spectacular mileage.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Very satisfactory vehicle. Drove it cross country Baltimore to Steamboat to Park City to Boise and back averaging 70mph and got approximately 27mpg. No problems in the Rockies with always available power to climb and pass going up grades of 7 percent. In the high altitudes with no air resistance I was getting nearly 45mpg with the car fully loaded. Sound system is boomy with the plastic door panel mountings and no input for iPods or XM/Sirius radios. The NAV system is OK but GARMINS are MUCH better and more flexible. I know have 11,000 miles and everything appears to be in good shape.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Nav-System with fuel mileage graph, Edison AC plug.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Updated interior with new plastics, automatic headlights, an exterior temperature gauge, tire pressure monitor.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
I originally drove a Ford Explorer that received an amazing 12 miles per gallon. Driving the Escape hybrid I've been able to achieve 30 miles per gallon. Learning to drive the hybrid for maximum efficiency takes some time but the reward is worth the effort. The interior is clean but has some quirks, the plastics are not as nice as the new Explorer. Overall, it still is very comfortable. An optional Edison AC plug is really cool, and lets you plug in most anything. Beware of some dealerships having a 'Limited Availability Option'...look for family owned dealerships...a lot friendlier and easier to deal with.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
I really like the backup sensor on the Premium Package. Nav System is great, though the screen is small and is not a touch screen (like in the Prius). Very attractive paint. LOVE the 110 volt outlet.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Rear cargo carpet is a joke, comes loose all the time. Outdoor temperature indicator is a must! Heated seats come on by accident too easily (just climbing in), not needed in the Houston heat. Larger/touch screen LCD (like in the Prius) would be welcomed. MP3 player input jack for radio.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
I traded in my 2001 Prius for a bit more room and to get "up" above the traffic a bit. Found the Escape to be a pretty good replacement (though about 15 mpg lower than the Prius). The Escape performs beautifully and rides well. I do feel a bit let down by the interior though. I got the Premium Package (recommended) to at least get some comfort items, but it is a far cry from the interior on my Eddie Bauer Expedition as far as useful design and layout. Doesn't have adequate storage for misc items in the driver area -- just the arm console.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Good night light pattern. Auto dim on navigation display. Multiple information displays in driver cluster. Knowing how many miles to empty. Averaging 30.6 mpg on the first 3 tanks of a AWD-SUV. That's better than the 19 on the '02 model.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Put the 12v outlet in the back for my refrigerator. Put some radio controls on the steering wheel. Make it easier to turn the auto door locks on and off when needed (activation button on dash?). I miss the temperature gauge. Oil pressure would be nice too.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Loved the 2002 Escape so much my wife said we should get the Hybrid version. Stands a little taller, lacks the 12 volt outlet in the back, but is much quieter than old version. Perforated leather is softer and seats more comfortable. Drivetrain performance is not noticeably different than the V6 2002 we are used to. Sound system is good and the navigation is a neat plus when driving to unfamiliar destinations. No engine noise at stops and speeds under 30 is something we have gotten used to quickly. Electric power steering gives reasonable road feedback but not the same as traditional. When accelerating the engine spools up quickly, the vehicles moves smoothly without any gear changing.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Love the height off the road. Zippy, does feel like a V6. Seats fold flat. Good look - bigger wheels, solid feeling doors and handles. Like the rear opening window.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
AC must run off battery, not only just when motor is running. Can't see gauges well at night. MORE storage - when I changed from a Highlander - had two crates I couldn't put in vehicle. Larger pockets for doors as an example. When folding rear seats flat, you lose all the storage behind front seats.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Rented a Prius for a day to "check" out the hybrids - was told that the Ford Escape was similar to the Toyota. Almost bought a Prius - but really wanted an SUV. Searched the internet for local dealer inventory; good experience, good salesman, good finance manager. I think showing up the last day of the month helped - with the Edmunds info in hand. Mileage in city is usually 32. Having trouble getting 30 MPG highway.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
The ride is firm enough but pleasant, and I don't bother slowing down over bad roads, it just sucks up the bumps and boinks without complaint. I like how peppy and maneuverable it feels, surprising for a large golf cart.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Beef up the AC outlet or don't bother. Could be quieter overall, and brakes do squeak a bit.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
I like this thing better than I thought I would. It doesn't feel slow, the gas mileage is good but not great ... until you compare it to OTHER SUV's, like my wife's Acura MDX which gets 12 MPG in the city while I'm getting 25 in hilly San Francisco, heh heh heh. Interior is very pleasant and unpretentious. I see people are raving about the AC outlet, but I doubt if they ever tried to use it -- it handles only very low wattage, so plugging in anything useful trips the circuit breaker and shuts it off. Can't even plug in my tire inflation pump. For my usage, which includes city commuting plus trips into the snow, this AWD hybrid is perfect.
