Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jaguar X-Type?
Took this car on two track racing training sessions this summer and although it was passed on the straight by expensive and powerful cars (Porsches, Lotuses, Audi A8s, etc), it held its own against them through corners and the chicane.
Very forgiving cornering, great braking. Can be driven as quiet sedan but can turn into the leaping cat very quickly.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jaguar X-Type?
The power is a little lower than I'd like, but the engine makes such a great growl under acceleration. I can forgive that, but a little more oomph would be nice.
2006 Jaguar X-Type Review:
Overall, a steal at the price I paid. It draws attention which I don't mind (but not too much). It has the look of a gentleman's car without the ostentation of a full size Jaguar. I particularly enjoy describing (and demonstrating) to those who sneer at its Fordishness, that whatever its lineage, there is a great deal of Jaguar in its behavior. And that is what counts!

Sleek car.
Comfortable interior.
Sporty yet luxurious at the same time.
Great all weather car.
Does better in snow than my Yukon.

More power would be great. Maybe 50 to 75 more horses.

Just about everything.
The exterior and interior are gorgeous, rides smooth, steering/handling is excellent, all wheel drive, great sounding stereo, and lots of trunk space.
Chrome in all the right places on the exterior.
Heated windshield to melt off any ice very quickly.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jaguar X-Type?
Space in the backseat will be a little uncomfortable for people who are over 6 feet tall and have longer legs.
2006 Jaguar X-Type Review:
I own a 2006 X-Type VDP edition. Amazing vehicle. Drives beautifully and handles the roads fantastic. Absolutely love it.
The Vanden Plas edition makes it even better than it already is with all the added features. It turns a lot of heads on the street when I drive by; the X-type is definitely one of the best looking cars on the road.

Body style, classy looking car. Truly a head turning car. I had the windows tinted darker because people were always looking at the car. Frankly, I don't like all the attention. But it is a real joy to drive.

The Japanese transmission is paired nicely with a smooth 3.0l. Handling is firm, almost like a roadster. You have to enjoy "feeling" the road. The cornering capability of this sedan continues to amaze and the legendary Jaguar coachwork is terrific for a car in this price range.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jaguar X-Type?
Very minor interior annoyances. The firm ride is only for those who appreciate the traditional English "sports car" handling a la TR-6 and Austin 3000.

3.0 engine is smooth and growls really nicely when pressed.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jaguar X-Type?
Get slightly softer seats, more Volvo c70 in feel would be nice.
2006 Jaguar X-Type Review:
As a used car (mine is a 2004) the value is incredible. $18,300 for a 26K mile car. The suspension and light steering feel make this car a creat city driver. Far more suple on the bumps than my Volvo. 24.5 mpg on the highway is nice, as is the silky smooth highway feel the car displays at 60-90 MPH. I like it better than the BMW, but some of the ac and radio knobs could have been more upscale in presentation. Maybe a little more chrome on the knobs, a la Honda, would take care of it.
None the less I think its a great value, very smooth and maintenance free so far, and would consider another Jaguar.

Manufacturer should pay more attention to interior detail and quality of workmanship.
2006 Jaguar X-Type Review:
The 2006 X-Type has been my first Jaguar ownership. Overall, it is a nice car with adequate performance. Styling, exterior and interior, is first class. However, I drove this car off the lot with some flaws that should have been detected and resolved prior to the showroom. For instance, the automatic headlights essentially do not work. There is a flaw withing the light sensors located in the cabin mirror, so that the exterior lights only work when the mirror is set in an impractical angle for rear viewing. Also, on several occasions, I have turned on the ignition key and received total silence. Several more turns tend to eliminate the problem. It is one of those infuriating intermittent issues that never reveals itself to a service person. Other than those annoying flaws, it is a fun car to drive, has a comfortable and functional interior. Instrument cluster and electronic controls are well thought out. The premium sound system is great. Nice moon roof mechanism. However, the X-Type just received a "POOR" rating for head restraint safety. Bottom line, kind of a neat car, but I probably will not buy another Jaguar.

2006 Jaguar X-Type Review:
I bought this car after reading lots of negative comments about the car being based on a Mondeo chasis. After driving it- hard- I said "so what." Corporate platform sharing is nothing new and certainly not unique to Jaguar. On its own merits, I purchased the car over the Lexus and BMWs I test drove. No regrets whatsoever so far.
