Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
Interior and Exterior Styling are pure Jeep - and that's a good thing!
I really like the ergonomics of the controls and the layout of the dash. 3rd Row Seats are great for my two kids (although you wouldn't want a full size adult in the 3rd row).
I have the Saddle Brown leather seats and they are sweet looking - I get compliments every time someone gets in the vehicle.
This is also a very quiet vehicle - much more quiet than the 2004 Grand Cherokee I traded for it.
Overall, I love my Commander and it has been very reliable for me.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
I have the 4.7L V8 and I live at 6,000ft above sea level in Colorado. Although the gas mileage is not great, if I had to do it over again I may have gotten a HEMI for the additional power. This is a big vehicle and an extra 100 horsepower would be great for the mountain passes. The 4.7L is adequate, but the extra horses would be very nice.
The gas mileage is town is poor but I get about 20-21mpg on the highway as long as I'm not gunning it. I average 17.5mpg with a mix of city and highway driving.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
Power, performance, superb traction on snow, ice, mud, rocks-you decide where to go, it gets you there & back in style & comfort. They've outdone themselves with the Commander's performance.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
3rd row seats are good for kids or 1 adult, eventually I'll remove them & make room for more golf clubs. I'm a pilot, can we put some wings & a turbo prop on this?
2006 Jeep Commander Review:
Rides like a luxury sedan on Pa. roads. Handles superbly and confidently with ample feedback to let you know when you're pushing the envelope. Does a fantastic job in the deep snow & icy roads, with the ELSD's & traction control you have to try real hard to spin the wheels. Couple that with the ESP and you have the most sure footed Jeep on the road today. The Commander isn't intimidated one bit when taken off road & will take you anywhere you equip it to go. The Hemi does a good job for the MPG it serves up, using 89 octane will get you a slight increase in performance & MPG while maintaining the same fuel cost per mile. The equation is simple enough, pony up for the increased cost of a good mid grade fuel, you'll go further on a tank, cost per mile remains the same. I've found BP, Hess & Sunoco give me the best results. A lot of thought went into the front driver & passenger compartment. The 8 way adjustable seat & sound insulated interior quell any fatigue normally encountered on long road trips. The seats are the most comfortable I've ever driven in. The instrument panel is designed in a way that all controls can be easily reached without taking your eyes off the road to look for any of them. I enjoy the many compliments I get from passengers along for the ride both on & off road. Performance, comfort & good old Jeep Guts, I am truly impressed by this machine. I own & operate an auto & light truck repair shop so we see a lot come through here, I've owned "Rovers" & they have nothing on a Jeep Commander (5.7 equipped) except higher operating costs & less reliability. I hear rumors that 09 will be the last year for Commanders, that would be a huge mistake in my opinion. Some better marketing is defiantly needed. With the Hemi package this is the ultimate SUV. It's a Jeep thing, move over Rover.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
Love the way they Look on the exterior and the interior.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
I have the V6, wish I would have gone with the V8.
It shakes when you get around 30mph, mostly when up a hill.
When trying to pull out of my parking lot at work, it wants to not shift right, almost got hit one day.
Door seals are bad, holds water and runs out when you open them (or freezes shut in the winter).
Bad blind spot when third row seats are up.
No room for a cooler when the third row is up either.
Not very happy!!!

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
Love Jeeps, always have.
Looks great inside and out.
Third row is perfect for a blended family with additional children part-time.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
When 3rd row is in use, or seats are left up the blind spot is bad.
Have had heating weirdness.
Flickering dash and headlights on occasion.
Seat belt in back seat doesn't stay clicked, warranty??
2006 Jeep Commander Review:
Bought used and have had a slew of issues, and the worst part is it is 4 mos. old to us... already been back to the dealer twice for tires (they put bald tires on before delivering our truck after we bought it!!!) and the dash lights flicker. They said they fixed it, but just this morning I had my headlights and dash lights flicker a few times! Doesn't happen every time it's driven, but not safe at all to be driving my children around in!! And last week, the heat stayed on full blast w/o any use of the heating/ac controls. I restarted it and worked fine!! Haven't had it happen again, but it is something I will have to have fixed and the Jeep rep on the phone said I could spend up to $1,200.00 before they even figure out what the issue I'd have to have it fixed!!! Seriously?!?

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
The size, the performance (5.7), the styling.
I bought it new and came out of a GMC Yukon.
The seating in front is very comfortable and I love being able to see the hood.
In Wisconsin the snow gets deep and this thing handles it with ease.
My first Jeep - I love it!
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
The only problem I have had with it is the clunking vibration in the transfer case when backing out of the driveway. Someone suggested exercising the 4Low occasionally and that cured the problem.
MPG could be better but it is what it is. Make the Gas Tank bigger and you wouldn't hear me complain.
2006 Jeep Commander Review:
Great vehicle as far as I am concerned. I removed the rear seats for added room and less weight to move around. I may never get rid of it.....

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
I enjoy my Commander.
I have about 61,000 miles on it. I drive 63 miles a day to and from work.
Great ride.
Off roads great very impressed.
It has the 5.7 hemi - lots of power.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
Like everyone, gas mileage. Little more ground clearance. I would like it not to be full time 4x4.
I do have one problem. It's a clunking noise in the front end. I have read a lot of blogs on it and sounds like a lot of people have the same problem. Everyone has said the sway bar bushing goes bad around 50,000 to 60,000 miles. At dealer it costs about $1300.00. If you do it yourself, under $200.
2006 Jeep Commander Review:
Overall the Commander is great. It's my 1st Jeep and I am very happy with the results. I think it's a great vehicle if you want a Jeep but have a big family.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
Almost everything.
This Jeep does all I ask it to.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
The fuel tank needs to be a bit larger.
Some of the door seals could use some improvement.
2006 Jeep Commander Review:
Overall, the Commander is one of the best trucks I have owned. The 5.7 Hemi is a dream to operate. The suspension works so well I don't notice untill I drive a different vehicle.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
This Jeep Commander has lived up to my expectations of performance and style.
No stalling issues.
My 4.7L V8 gets 13.9mph around town.
Great for the family and animals.
No complaints here.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
I have no recommendations for the 2006 as mine stands. It's a great JEEP!
2006 Jeep Commander Review:
The Commander is my 27th vehicle. It is only one of three which I purchased slightly used. I've put almost 15,000 miles on it and I am very pleased. I'm only disappointed that the Commander has been discontinued. Poor decision, I feel.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander?
Love the look and interior.
Great handling.
Smooth ride for the most part.
I have 142,000 miles on it. I drive it for work.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
It has stalled MANY times since I bought it and no one can figure out why.
The A/C went out.
The dash lights flicker.
Transmission hesitates between 45- 55mph.
And worst of all, my gas pedal would get stuck in acceleration (in 2008) and about killed me.

I HAVE A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER WITH 24,000. MILES. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2009, I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE POWER WINDOW CONTROLS, TRANSMISSION SEAL, HAD THE ESP REPROGRAMMED AND I'M CURRENTLY WORKING ON CHANGING MY FUEL SENSING UNIT SINCE MY GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. PEOPLE WONDER WHY AMERICANS BUY JAPANESE AND JEEP IS WHY!!!!!!!!!!!
