Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
The drive, feels smooth and solid, wheelbase = cornering off road.
The low end, fast get up and go.
Looks are more appealing than the new ones and a nice change from the classic box that has been Jeep forever.
Mileage so far so good, did expect higher mileage with a diesel.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Plastic - front bumper, back bumper, wheel flares and rockers, very disappointing - it's not a neon you might actually use it off road.
Diesel stink bad enough to be discomforting.
Interior stains an embarrassment to have anyone ride with you.
No function dash / glovebox.
Cup holder placement and console too far back to be used as an armrest.
Seems to be absolutely no structural support in the roof.
2006 Jeep Liberty Review:
Seems a fair compromise for size, 4X4, performance, and mileage.
A different lifestyle owning a Jeep after having a truck. Seems that towing may not be a problem, but no cargo space to speak of, definitely not a family vehicle if you are traveling with gear, and not for long trips either.
But all things considered, a quality vehicle - except the rear passenger window that doesn't work.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
I love the comfort of driving on the road and the flexibility of driving on dirt trails. It handles extremely well and I have hardly ever felt like it would tip over. The little bit of play in the steering wheel makes it more comfortable to drive on rough roads because the wheel doesn't want to jerk out of my hands when I hit little bumps.
The seats are comfortable for long trips.
I really like the fact that there is a lot of room in the engine compartment to perform your own maintenance if desired. There aren't too many vehicles like that anymore!
The ground clearance (9.4") is amazing for an off the shelf vehicle.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
I would upgrade the transmission. It's not smooth at lower speeds and at 40 mph it tends to not know whether to shift up or stay in the lower gear.
I would also like to see more power output, somewhere between 235 and 255 hp, and 260 lbs of torque. The 210hp/235lbs of torque 3.7L V6 has a nice kick, but when loaded to full capacity (1,150lbs), it does tend to lag.
I would also like to see a higher cargo carrying capability. You can't have full passengers with luggage in the back.
I am a little uncomfortable about the fact that there isn't an inline fuel filter that you can change out. The only one they have is in the fuel pump itself which can result in a costly repair if you happen to get bad gas (which does happen).
2006 Jeep Liberty Review:
All in all, it is an amazing vehicle. The versatility of it makes it a perfect choice for city driving and off-road trail riding.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Towing capacity.
4WD capable.
Diesel fuel.
Compactness.
Solid feel.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
More rugged looks.
Different seats offering more all around support.
I would also have liked push button 4WD controls instead of the lever on the tunnel.
2006 Jeep Liberty Review:
I am getting between 23 and 24MPG out of my CRD Liberty!! I have about 1000 miles on it and really love it.
I have owned other jeeps in the past - 86 CJ7 (still own) and 2004 Jeep Cherokee (traded) and feel this one is the best. I have plenty of leg room in it (I'm 5'8") and feel quite comfortable and safe in it (as long as I am not cornering too aggressively). It does not feel bogged down when loaded with four 200 lb adults. I love the solid feel of it but feel it does not handle well on city streets over about 40 MPH. It kinda feels like it would be easy to tip over. On a hard stop, the seats don't hold little things sitting on them very well and things go sliding everywhere.
I would opt for mud flaps and a light bar to macho the looks up a little. Acceleration is awesome after the turbo kicks in and you can really feel the power this tiny SUV has.
I found no dents dings or scratches on the exterior. The door gaps are mostly even on both sides and appear to have the same size gaps all around the vehicle. I have found no interior mistakes with the exception of the tunnel trim piece not trimmed correctly on the LH side of the tunnel. Wind noise is minimum, wipers work good, ride is really quiet for a diesel, sunroof is solid and locks in with a solid sound.
I believe I ran the fuel a little too low and needed to purge the system like the manual says. I could press the accel pedal to the floor with the engine running and the vehicle would not move. I turned the vehicle off and on again and everything worked fine after that.(That happened at about 500miles.)
All in all I am very please so far and expect my highway mileage to be really good. If you have been thinking of getting one, I think you will love it. I certainly do!!!

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Pretty good "get up and go."
Drives and handles pretty well for a Jeep. It will turn on a dime and is easy to maneuver through tight parking lots with small spaces.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
The gas mileage is not what I expected for such a small SUV.
The interior (gray cloth) stains easily (literally from a drop of bottled water - you will have discoloration of fabric that is hard to get out).
The biggest con, and I do mean CON, has to do with the power windows: They break. All of them. All the time. Even when not in use. The window regulator fails, and the window will just fall down. Not good if you park your Jeep outside. Who would do that, though?
2006 Jeep Liberty Review:
It's not a bad car, most of the time. For the most part, it's easy to drive and maintain. It has an annoying and intermittent "check engine" light that seems to be related to the "evap" system that nobody can diagnose or correct. My wife thinks it's "cute," though. For me, the window thing definitely puts the "CRY" in ChRYsler. And, neither the ChRYsler Corp, nor the dealerships will make it right. I guess as long as we keep forking over hundreds of dollars a pop for the repairs (six for ours - and counting), what is their incentive? I encourage you to research this vehicle before you buy it. Except, that if you do, you won't buy it. Okay, so forget that. Just get an extended warranty that covers the regulators, and sell the car before the warranty expires.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Handling, looks, features, power.
I love it!
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Gas mileage and window regulators. Dealer argues every time I go to get it fixed...even though it's under warranty. Chrysler needs to recall them for the windows.
2006 Jeep Liberty Review:
I bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty Limited Edition 2wd about a month ago. I absolutely love it! Except for the windows....the 1st day I got it the back window fell down...got it fixed...then the passenger side did it the same day I got it back. Dealership is rude which isn't Jeeps' fault, but it makes the problems with the Jeep even worse. Anyway, besides the windows I LOVE it! It's great for road trips (sunroof open blasting 80's music!!). I'm only 17 and it's my "1st car". So gas is kind of an issue. I will purchase a Jeep again, but not until I get a good job and can afford gas for it. If you want a good reliable fun SUV to drive, then I recommend it!

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Looks.
Handling.
Space.
I love pretty much so all of it.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
The windows! I bought one used (it's my "1st car".) I bought it just about a month ago. The 1st day I had it home, the back window on the passenger side fell off track. It had to be replaced, then I got it back and the front passenger window did the same thing! The Jeep Liberty windows should be fixed.
And the seats are a bit uncomfortable on long road trips. But if you get your seat adjusted correctly, it's not too bad.
2006 Jeep Liberty Review:
I love my Jeep! It's a Limited, and it has leather, heated seats, all the bells and whistles, and I absolutely love it. I had some minor window problems, but the dealers warranty covered them. It's a great car for me, but I do not recommend it for a family SUV! It's enough space for myself, but a large family would have some space issues. A single mom with one kid, maybe I'd recommend. It's safe, reliable, mine was taken really good care of, and I love it! I recommend it!

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Size is great, have been happy with this vehicle, with the exception of the window regulators.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Window regulators are trash. Have had the car in for service 7 times, 5 were covered under warranty. #6 was not, and Chrysler will not admit the design flaw. Am now waiting for another window replacement, they now say the recall is pending but will not replace the other 2 windows until they are broken.
2006 Jeep Liberty Review:
After 13 trips to the dealer to repair window mechanisms, Chrysler, still has not made this situation right. Will not ever own another Chrysler product. After 1 or 2 warranty issues you'd think the company would have contacted me. Complain and customer service is supposed to get back to you in 24 hours, not so much. Chrysler does not stand behind the product.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
I love the size and handling of the Liberty. With my job, I have to show up to work no matter the weather. I traveled 75 miles in 2 feet of snow to make it to my job once and the Liberty got me there with no problems.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
The window regulators!!!!!! My passenger side back window has fallen twice in the past 3 yrs. I never use the window! I went to have it fixed and was told it was not covered under my warranty. I do not have the extra $500 to throw around every time a window falls. There should be a recall on this problem. I love my Jeep, but am thinking of going to a Chevy if this problem is not resolved soon!!! The interior needs to be treated with scotch guard so it doesn't stain so easily!

I love the Liberty and this is my second one!!! The windows need to be recalled and fixed.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Looks.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Liberty?
*The AC sucks, quit working and will cost $1500 to repair.
*Front end completely crashed to the ground, something about U joints or ball joints, it was a recall I never received.
But it did get fixed.
*The interior looks like crap, all stained up from simply water and does not come clean.
*Back window lock doesn't work.
*It makes odd noises..squeaks and grinds.
*Seatbelt "ding ding noise" goes off even when the seat belts are being worn.
2006 Jeep Liberty Review:
Piece of crap..do not buy this Jeep!
