Mostly the handling, gas mileage, and the open road.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 MINI Cooper?
The seats are way too hard. They should have soft leather seats like the other small cars.
2006 MINI Cooper Review:
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate it at about 8.5. They should make them with proper tires, softer seats, and a little more power on the standard models.

I like the way it looks, the high resale value and how it stands out from so many compact cars made today. It looks like a Matchbox car.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 MINI Cooper?
The S version comes with run-flat tires, that is a requirement. There is no spare tire, there is no room for a spare tire. These tires are expensive ($400+) and cannot be repaired. If you decide to get regular steel belted tires, you will get a better ride, be able to repair flats and save a lot of money when you replace the tires, but you will have to get a spare tire and a spare steel rim, and the only place to store them is on the back seat! I am unhappy with the noise while on the road, there could be better sound proofing.
2006 MINI Cooper Review:
Overall, the positives of this car do not compensate for the negatives I found in the car. It is too bad, since this car was the first I ever truly looked forward to having!
I will stick with a Mazda Miata, a Scion B, or a VW.

Top down and it is an exciting ride down the high way, the interior is comfortable and organized.
It is a well developed car for its size.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 MINI Cooper?
Driving it is a frightful experience as the transmission seems to malfunction at the least opportune times such as accelerating onto an expressway or trying to pass. Then the car just stalls and as the driver you wait to see if anyone will cream you. I would recall the cars with the auto/manual option. The tires are always presenting a problem by losing air or going flat and the idea of runflat is someone's dream simply because they are flat so often.
2006 MINI Cooper Review:
I would sell or trade this cute little car but even the dealership will not take it, and of course I am not really sure I would want another MINI. Much like a first wife this car is great in theory but expensive and hard to live with and near impossible to get rid of.

This car is always in the shop. As soon as the warranty was over, the transmission blew out, the car stalls when in idle,which can not be repaired or, "problem can not be reproduced". What broke and was fixed: gasket ring broke, wishbone bracket, gasket ring, fans, power steering fan, faulty Kombi, can break in all can modules, wheel-hub with bearing which damaged the brake-pads.
And the gas mileage is ridiculous: 22m.

Styling, looks, it still turns heads and everyone that sees it says that want it.
It seems to beg to be pushed.
Great handling and gas mileage.

Computer and electrical issues galore. Every week something new goes wrong.
I have had it 9 months, 6 times in the shop and the closest shop to me is 4 hours.

Better tires.
For what the JCW package they should have finished it out with a cam and headers and upgrade throttle.
2006 MINI Cooper Review:
I replaced the runflats with Michelin Pilots and opened up the intake more. What a difference in ride and handling. Even a trip to the grocery is a blast. I drive several long road trips a year and it will run all day near 100 and get 28 MPG doing it.

Just bought an 2006 in Alabama with 19,000 miles.what an nice car as I drove it home to Colorado..2000 miles stopped in Oklahoma for an oil change at local mini dealer they spotted 2 small issues covered by warranty and I was back on road the next day great service ,body and doors nice and tight

2006 MINI Cooper Review:
The only thing I did with my 2006 cooper S was to get rid of the run flat tires and changed to Yokohama S Drive tires. This change was great from the standpoint of noise reduction and performance. I am currently looking into the turbo version to see the difference between supercharged and turbo performance.
