Pros: What do you like about 2006 Pontiac G6?
The 2 door body style.
Lots of get up and go.
Great mileage on the hwy, I got 200 miles on a quarter tank of gas.
Comfortable to drive.
Good air conditioning, love it as my old car didn't have AC.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Pontiac G6?
Can't see very well out the back window when backing up.
Have had the car in for brake work a few times, and had to have steering column fixed as it was clunking and banging a lot. Turned out to be a common problem and was fixed under warranty, ball joints apparently.
Cheap plastic parts inside. The hinges on my vanity mirror have broken and it is irritating when you pull down the sun visor and the mirror flops open. Also my drivers side seat belt holder broke right off, I don't know how as it hasn't been leaned on or pulled on. It will cost $70 for the part to fix it.
2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
I like really like my car but it has had more than it's share of problems. I bought it brand new and think that there should have been a lot less problems than there have been. I only have 44,000km on it and hope to keep it for another 10 years but we will see.
I will say that the GM Dealership that I deal with in Victoria has been very good to me and have had no problems with service.

The exterior, power (3.5 litre 3500), it's a 4 door sedan, and the way it drives.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Pontiac G6?
The seats are very uncomfortable, little better gas mileage for a 3.5 litre, the popping when I turn and the starter sticking.
2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
My 06' Ponitac G6 4 door sedan with a 3.5 litre 3500 in it does ok for having 92,000 miles. I've only put $800 in it and I almost have it paid off, so its almost been 5 yrs. And I got it when it had 40,000 miles. That $800 don't count new tires and oil changes every 3,000 miles, but I think that's pretty great. You know the American made vehicles now are not what they used to be. German vehicles are the best in my opinion. Ahh they all have their issues.

Better suspension.
Better quality parts, i.e. breaks, rotors, steering column etc..........

My steering keeps locking up when I put it into drive. It says power steering across the radio. Then when I turn the car off and turn it back on it unlocks. I have the clunking noise in my steering also. When I drive it, it sounds like it's going to fall apart. I'm concerned about the steering locking up. I called Pontiac to see if there has been any recalls for that problem and they said no. I will never buy another Pontiac again!!!

They already improved the G6 by not making them anymore.
2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
The G6 was my first "new" car (was used). I ASKED before I bought it if it had any of the problems I had found online and they head mechanic was all "Oh no I have never seen steering problems on the G6s in all the years I have worked here." Guess I shoulda asked him if he had worked for Pontiac for a week :/
2 weeks after purchase the cars steering started clunking, it is the steering columns ball joint, take your car in they know what it is as it is a known issue!
The air conditioning pulley not long after then exploded and locked up my engine, hubby replaced the pulley so the car could drive the 100+ miles back home. The dealer tried to say I voided the warranty by putting on a higher quality pulley. lolol
Today my car is headed back cuz the wipers intermediate setting only works when it wants to. The car getting stuck starting is still an issue they refuse to fix as it won't happen in their presence.
And alas the steering yet again!
This car is the brain child of someone who must have been on crack!

2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
I have a 2006, G6. My engine light stays on lately, but the dealer says nothing is wrong. I have a CD stuck in the player, because I didn't know that it wasn't working anymore. I feel that something is going to happen to my car...and I have the proper work done when needed. There are blind spots on seeing if someone is not coming from the right, so that you can turn left. There is one on backing up also.

However.....

Have problems that everybody is talking about here. The heater blower only worked on 1 and 4 for a while, and now doesn't work at all. I am currently online buying a new blower assembly. Steering clunk. Appears that I am going to have to replace tie rod end at very least.
Interior is cheezy cheap plastic and nothing overly enticing.
2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
Pretty much sucks. I'm like everyone else...I WANT to give GM a chance, but geez, we are talking about a 3 year old car with only 70k on it and it seems to be falling apart. I have a 18 year old Subaru with 300k on it that has fewer problems, literally! So...maybe I'll be heading to Subaru dealer shortly it looks like. Too bad, cuz I so WANT to buy American, but I can't simply throw money to the wind in order to do so, like all other working Americans.

I have a 2006 G6, with just under 64k on it. I have had it in the shop dozens of times for the breaks. This problem started after I got new tires put on, I would not have breaks for 10-15 min., this went on until the problem got worse. It got to the point where my car would stop as soon as I took my foot off of the gas, and I did not have time to even press on the breaks. I have had literally everything replaced and fixed many times. The dealer tells me that they do not know of anyone else who has these issues, and that they can't find anything.
I e-mailed GM customer service, and as soon as I told them the issue's I was having they ended all contact with me, I am very pissed about this. I think that GM needed to work with me to try to solve this issues.

Where to start..bought the car with 31,000 on it. Purchased June 2, 2010. Now with 35,000 on it. The dealership is trying to find me a replacement car. In one month that I have had it in my hands, it has been to the shop 4 times.
1st for brakes- they only turned the rotors instead of putting brakes on it..still squealing.
2nd- car has a huge electrical problem. Wire shorted causing smoke to roll from my headliner (WHILE DRIVING IT). They replaced wires, headliner and visors.
3rd- electrical problem again..wire shorted from under the hood to my trunk!! 8 ft worth of wire, melted...they never told me and I drove it on vacation before returning it for more repairs.
I have spent the last month in a rental more than my purchased car and still making payments on a piece of crap..
