Pros: What do you like about 2006 Saturn ION?
Small turning radius.
Great visibility for driver.
Gas mileage.
Appealing exterior appearance.
Comfortable front seats.
Good trunk space.
Great feature to have rear seat backs that fold down.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Saturn ION?
More leg room for back seat passengers.
More space between front cup holders and control panel controls.
A little more leg and foot room for the driver's right leg & foot.
Add GPS (e.g. a higher level Garmin) as a built-in option.
Sun visors with more coverage.
2006 Saturn ION Review:
My 2006 Ion is my second Saturn. I bought a new 1993 SL2 and drove it over 247,000 miles. Other than a flat tire when the car was new it never, I repeat NEVER, broke down or gave me trouble. If I recall correctly, the only light that ever burned out on the car was a dash light. The only other lights on the car that needed replacement were fog lights that were hit and broken by loose road stones. The car gave me an average of over 33mpg on gas mileage The best mileage that I recorded was 36+ mpg. How could I say no to another Saturn? My only regret when buying the 2006 Ion was that I traded in my 1993 SL2 instead of my 1998 F150 pick-up truck, which also was a very good vehicle.
After 50,000+ miles on my 2006 Ion the only problems that I have experienced are:
1) The front passenger door would not unlock (It was covered and repaired under the warranty.
2) The left rear power window stopped working this summer.
3) Like my 1993 SL2 Saturn, road noise has come into play, and there are a couple of air leaks in the door seals.
4) Gas mileage is over 30mpg, but not what I had with the SL2.
My biggest disappointment is that GM has terminated the manufacture of the Saturn. A BIG MISTAKE in my book.

Front end parts are substandard. Cost over 4 years is in excess of $1500.00.
Also ignition key broke at 50,000 miles, cost another 350.00.

Looks good on outside.
Love the suicide doors - a nice addition.
Wicked on gas.
A very smooth ride, awesome for highway driving.
The rear seats fold down nicely and good storage in the trunk.
Perfect for a big shopping trip and the ladies love it.
Perfect for a single dude/chick or couple without kids.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Saturn ION?
The cup holders need to move, cannot get to the controls for heat or flow. The cup holders are just way too close.
The dash just does not have that modern look too. It is very boring and little room in the back seats.
Needs work on the acceleration, takes a little while to pick up speed. Not really a family vehicle.
2006 Saturn ION Review:
All in all, beautiful car, just needs some adjustments to the interior, especially the cup holder and seriously lame dash. Fun to drive though, that's for sure.

Nice looking exterior, decent performance.

Cheap looking interior, specially the dash!
Tiny console storage compartment (I have to store my GPS and some other gadgets out of sight in the trunk when not in use).
Cruise control only works occasionally.
2006 Saturn ION Review:
I bought mine recently as a lease return with only 43,000 kms on the odometer. I like the car overall, but the gas mileage (2.4 L engine) has been disappointing.
Biggest complaint is that the cruise control only works intermittently...and until it actually quits for good; can't be properly diagnosed and repaired (?!) ...according to the mechanic working for the used car dealership where I purchased it.

Actually has decent passing speed.

Takes over 30 lever pushes to raise and lower the drivers seat!!!(Are you kidding? My Toyota goes higher and lower with 8 pumps.)
Have had to replace the ignition 4 times, twice it was stuck with the vehicle on. Have had to replace the rear window motors 3 different times, Saturn always tried to say it was my fault, until I pushed. Now the drivers side window has come of the track and knocked the lock out of sync, the drivers door will not open.

I also have had nothing but problems since I bought my 2006 Saturn Ion quad coupe....it may look good on the outside but everything else about it sux! I've also changed piece in my steering column 3 times, then they actually changed the whole thing. My links are constantly breaking. The bushings let go the first 3 months I had it. And once more since. Sometimes she doesn't want to start. As so the gas mileage...I find it takes a lot! and yet with all these problems I've asked if they are defaults, since they occur regularly, they told me no. They are quite common but they are not defaults....it's the road you drive on...yea...

We have had nothing but problems from day one. We have had to replace the steering column three times, the windows role down and up when they feel like it, keys are always getting stuck in ignition. Sometimes won't start. And I also hate the location of cup holders, but that is the least of this car's problems.

I love the protection that it offers. This summer, I totaled my 2005 Ion Quad Coupe in a high-speed crash on the interstate, and walked away with only a few bruises. My new 2006 Ion also has side curtain airbags in addition to the features my 2005 had. I feel confident that, while looking stylish in my new car, I will be protected in any accidents. I also love the suicide doors. That is a great feature that all of my friends envy.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Saturn ION?
I would make it look more stylish on the outside. When the daytime running lights are on, it looks cross-eyed, and I hate that about Saturns.
