My headliner failed at 70k, and is still falling down. Dealer told me not under warranty, cost to fix will be over 600.00.
The headliner should not fail that fast.

Use metal where needed (Visor arm, seat adjustment handles, etc.); get away from so much cheap plastic! A little more horsepower and torque please! The TDI has so-so power but realistically needs another 50hp and 100ft/lb of torque to really make it special.
2006 Volkswagen Jetta Review:
This is my first VW so I'm new to German engineering. I don't know why VW is inherently synonymous with poor quality. Every car manufacturer has its quirks, however, I believe VW consistently has more quirks than most. As a new owner of a 2006 Jetta TDI, my experience is limited and so is my list of problems with the car to date. The only problems to date is a faulty driver’s side window and the steering wheel alignment being a little off center. Nevertheless, this car has been exceptional. I only wish the power range was much greater with the TDI. Another 50hp along with the torque gains that would produce with a diesel would be an added benefit.

love the acceleration.
very comfortable on highways, good size trunk.

leatherette no, no...sticky in florida...and in quebec during winter...leatherette becomes too hard and extremely cold.

good styling, competant, good value and good re-sale.

fit the 140bhp and 170bhp 2.0 TDI engines available in Europe.

My fuel economy with 50 mpg with my diesel engine gives me a highway range of over 700 miles; beat that with a civic!. . . combined with my driver seat comfort with my power seat & power lumbar package makes this care a joy to drive (and I drove 40,000 miles per year). Fit and finish are also outstanding by comparison.

Maybe a bit quieter but I'll swap that with mydiesel mileage any day.

2006 Volkswagen Jetta Review:
The Jetta is way better than Toyota and Honda it is an exceptional beautiful car there is only one big problem THE DEALERS THAT SERVICE THEM.
That is why VW can not compete with the japanese IN THE SERVICE DPTMENT
