Pros: What do you like about 2007 GMC Acadia?
Looked at Toyotas, Hondas, Lexus, Mazda and couldn't find a vehicle that had everything we wanted. We wanted AWD, five star driver and passenger safety ratings, reasonable towing capacity, comfortable seating, room to stretch my legs out, 7 passenger carrying capability with at least two passenger captain's chairs, very quiet ride, sure, easy handling on mountain roads, a large cargo area, the ability to be towed all four down without a big preparation hassle, a lot of nice options, reasonable power and of course an automatic trans., and all this at a reasonable price.
We found the Acadia had all of our requirements and more.. The vehicle has AWD for our snowy clime, ten strategically placed air bags, a 4,500 # towing capacity, very comfortable and roomy seating to allow for my bad back (41.3 in. front leg room), 7 place seating with two captain's chairs, and excellent, very quiet, wind-noise free, ride. The Acadia handles very well on our winding, mountain roads, although with slight over-steer, and it has plenty of cargo space (117 cu ft.). The 275 hp V6 supplies 251 ft-lbs. of torque, which is fine for our needs. Best of all we were able to inter-net purchase for $200 over TRUE factory invoice, less $1,500.00 in rebates. The vehicle has more options than I would've thought of: two moonroofs, power rear liftgate,19" Ultra Bright alum. wheels, XM radio with navigation system, DVD entertainment pkg. with MP3, ultrasonic rear park assist, On Star, heads-up display, remote start, and more. All this with a five year/ 100.000 powertrain limited warranty. This is especially important because of the new six speed tranny.
The Acadia is a knock-out from its great eye catching looks, (we've got the Red Jewel Tintcoat), to it's excellent handling and quiet ride. What took GMC so long to come up with a winner????

The vehicle has over-steer and the tranny does a lot of searching when in sixth gear.

I love the bucket seats in the second row. This is the only car in it's size class with them. Love it and will miss it when I get rid of it SOON - very SOON.
Cons: How would you improve 2007 GMC Acadia?
Very Unreliable. I wouldn't drive this car again if it was free to me. At about 50K miles the water pump went out. The power steering has been fixed. It is currently in the shop for its second transmission repair, which tells me we have to get rid of this car by the time we hit the 100K limit on the warranty because this transmission is crap. We won't be keeping this car for very much longer.
2007 GMC Acadia Review:
As much as I love my Acadia - we will be getting rid of it soon. It is very unreliable and I am tired of having to constantly work around getting it repaired. While it has everything on it that I want and love - especially the second row seating - reliability is just as important and this just doesn't have it.

Tranny goes out around 27,000 and well, too many to list. Everything is wrong with this car.
2007 GMC Acadia Review:
Bought a GMC Acadia in 07. At 12,000 CD/DVD player stopped working, 27,000 miles had to replace the tranny, at 36,000 power steering went out, around 47,000 heater went out, now I have 54,500 miles on it and I have to service traction control and service Stabilitrak. Feels like tranny running hard. The RPM'S are High. GMC Acadia, not a good car, just looks nice.

First Repair: Leaking Sunroof (Warranty Repair)
2nd Repair: Sensor (They charged me with some bogus fee)
3rd Repair: Transmission jerking and stalling (Warranty)
4th repair: Transmission Replaced at 71,000 miles (Warranty)
5th Repair: Trunk struts blew out (I just live with it: Not fixed)
6th Repair: TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT AT 91,000 Miles (Warranty, whew, Just caught it)
7th Repair: Blower (I haven't fixed it)
So...thank God this is a lease but I was gonna buy it because I'm over my miles but no Thank You. Now, the car rides beautifully with the new engine and trans in it. GMAC will only cover both items for 12,000 miles/12months. WTH...
2007 GMC Acadia Review:
Get it only as a lease because it starts to break down with more miles on the vehicle. I love the style but I was tired of being known at the Service area at my dealership. Maybe the newer year models are better.

The CD Player concerns me. If I play one too long, for some reason, it will not eject. I have to wait a day or two before it will release it.
When it rains, the steering wheel stiffen, vehicle pulls to the right, the belt Squeaks and then a message that says, "Service Battery Charging System." I have taken it to the Dealer who informed me that it needs an add on piece on both side to keep water from getting on the belt. Want to charge me 250.00. This is not fair. If it need something to stop the water from getting under the vehicle, then it should have been installed from the start. The Dealer should put it there at no cost.
Fix the problems that the water causes.

EXPECTED A LITTLE LESS WITH AWD BUT GAS MILEAGE IS TERRIBLE - 11 TO 13 MILES CITY AND THATS NOT IN A CONGESTED AREA. NO LONG TRIPS YET.
OUTSIDE MIRRORS COULD BE BETTER.

Make it more reliable. If you can't make a vehicle last more than 3 years before it start falling apart, junk it.
2007 GMC Acadia Review:
Purchased in 2007. Problems from the beginning, a/c, roof leak, steering column replaced, strut replaced, water pump replaced, now the struts on the rear door have gone bad. Not a problem if you like being hit in the head while packing. When GM says let the best car win. I do not think they had the Acadia in mind. I guess I should not complain with the high mileage 57,000. Cannot wait to get rid of this GM mechanics' dream car. By the way if you need to replace a head light you need to take off the front wheel and go through the wheel well. Great engineering GM.

I only have 55,000 miles on my 2007 Acadia and just had the water pump go out with my 3 children in the car with me...YIKES!
I also could use a few more horses under the hood but otherwise, things are great!
As far as improving the Acadia, the only thing better would be a convertible top on it! ha ha
2007 GMC Acadia Review:
I have been more pleased with my Acadia than any other vehicle I have owned but after reading other reviews, I'm getting a little nervous since there seem to be several common problems...... the water pump being one of them.
I had a minivan previous to my Acadia which had 180,000 miles before I totaled it and had only 1 SLIGHTLY major repair. So I am a little disappointed to have already been 2 days without my vehicle at only 55,000 miles because of repairs.

I love the interior of the car. It is roomy, love the onstar, stylish, the third row seat is wonderful. I looked at other suv, but the room inside the suv didn't compare to the Acadia.

2007 GMC Acadia Review:
The transmission blew at 61,000, lucky under warranty, and I have been driving a rental for 6 wks because GMC can't find a 2007 transmission. Now I know why, they are been replaced too often.
The air condition blew at 50,000 miles costing 1500 to fix.
When it rains the belts smoke and the stirring will stiff up.
The interior light for the door stop working at about 40,000 miles, second time having it replaced.
