I love the size & safety!
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Mercury Montego?
I would want improvement on the decel/accel while at an idle.
2007 Mercury Montego Review:
I bought my car brand new in June 2007. After about 2 months I was already in service. There was a knocking under the hood when shifting & a weird noise coming from the driver front wheel when turning. Not to mention everything on the dash would occasionally go out, then come back on after a few seconds. Thank God it left me stranded when I pulled in my drive way. Well they said the knocking under the hood was normal & the driver strut had to be changed. What left me stranded was supposedly the fuel pump went out. Come on, after 2months of having the car all this happened. Well needless to say I have now up to today's date have been back & forth to the dealership 9 times going on 10 this week. I have had enough of the bull with them & the car. I have lost so much time with this darn car. I would never ever recommend this vehicle to anyone.

I just bought a 2007 Montego that was babied and only has 19,000 miles on it.
It rides so smooth and the room that this car has is immense.
The trunks is cavernous and will fit my family very well.
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Mercury Montego?
Nothing really. Maybe a little bit more horsepower but that is it.
2007 Mercury Montego Review:
If you're looking for a solid well built car and not looking to shell out tons of money this car and the Sable are the ones to look for. Really a gem so far.

The transmission. They need to put a better transmission is this.
2007 Mercury Montego Review:
This car was purchased in April 2007. It is now December 2009. I have 56,000 miles on my car. Yes I do a lot of driving but 95% of it is all highway/cruise controlled. After 45,000 miles the transmission went. Now after 11,000 more (all in the same year) I need another transmission. As I stated my driving is easy driving. Why should I need a second let alone a third transmission. This is a major problem. This is my 1st attempt at a Ford product, I was always a GM person and only had one problem with a Chevy Caprice. That was rectified but I had to go through a class action suit to get GM to pay for a major problem. So far Ford has been ok with this although I did take out an extended warranty (thank goodness).

I like the size of the interior and the trunk. The seats are comfortable
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Mercury Montego?
I have had problems with the struts and rough ride. Tires were cheap. Had to replace them at 19,000. miles. Had to special order tires - none of the car or tire dealers in town carried that size tire. Lots of trouble with low profile tires. Had to replace a new one less than one month after put on. Had trouble putting gas in the tank. Had to hold nozzle during entire fill. Lots of metal scraping noises.
2007 Mercury Montego Review:
Huge disappointment. I have had all kinds of trouble with my 07. Have had this car in the shop more than last 3 vehicles combined.

had a beautiful grand marquis limited; husband wanted better gas mi. ;but not getting it;very disappointing; been buying new car every 3 years for about 20 yrs. and this is the dullest looking one we ever had; maybe that"s why they call it "Sable for 2008; but design isn"t much different; expected more from Mercury. They must pay their design teams good money; but maybe they should hire women who have the most interest in what they drive and buy; you can tell I didn"t this time!

Make the ouotside rear view mirrors smaller, as they are in the way of view, and scrape them at drive ups

Outstanding driving characteristics for a car this size. With AWD and CVT transmission, it's performance is smooth and it's mileage outstanding. Seating position and greenhouse glass eliminate blind spots. Navigation system is excellent and interior fit and finish is superb.

I would have kept the Montego name in 2008 and not gone with the Sable. I would eliminate the aerial for the am/fm and put it in the rear window glass.
