Pros: What do you like about 2007 Saturn AURA?
It is definitely not my Dad's 1990 era Saturn! After having two different minivans for the last 18 years, I had bought a Mazda Miata MX5 to put the fun back into driving. After finally trading my last minivan in for the Aura XR, I am now debating on whether I still need the Miata for that "fun drive" anymore.
I got the deep blue ZR with the Morrocan Brown interior fully loaded. My coworkers who have seen the car can not believe it is a Saturn. It handles great, I fully love the 6 CD changer that also plays MP3 CDs, the heated seats, the adjustable pedals, steering wheel, and fully adjustable power seat makes getting a comfortable position easy.
It is quiet, although popping the sun roof does increase wind noise, especially at highway speeds. The one thing I really like about the XR is the engine/transmission. The Aura XR can drive like a kitten with a light foot on the gas or a real tiger when needed. The Saturn Aura XR gives the driver the confidence of being able to merge onto highway traffic without the fear of getting rear ended but can still traverse a school zone without fear of a speeding ticket.
The OnStar feature is great. As I will be letting my 17 year old son take it on his Prom date, I have the confidence that should something happen, the 6 standard airbags will provide maximum protection along with onStar providing immediate 911 response.
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Saturn AURA?
As much as I enjoy the Aura XR as it is, I would like to see:
1. Better, softer door arm rests.
2. Better center arm rest.
3. Rear seat fold down center arm rest.
4. Trunk that pops open all the way and has a handle to close it.
5. Driver's seat with memory recall.
2007 Saturn AURA Review:
I drive 7 miles each way to work and when the traffic is light, the car gets 21-22 mpg of 35 to 45 mph driving. When traffic backs up and it takes me 45 minutes to drive those 7 miles, mileage drops down to the 18 mpg range. On a recent 200 mile road trip that was almost all highway driving, the car averaged 26.5 to 27 mpg of 65 to 70 mph driving. But when I'm traveling through Houston traffic that can range from 55 mph to 80+ mph, I would get anywhere from 29 to 33 mpg - strange but true. Recently, when I was asked what kind of driver I am, I responded that that when I drive my Miata, I drive just like the Houston drivers I curse at when I drove my minivan. But now that I have the Aura XR, I am finding I am driving just like those Houston drivers I curse at when I'm driving my Miata. I am sure there are other cars out there with better handling, better styling, and better "fun" factor, but those cars normally sell for thousands more.

Pros: What do you like about 2007 Saturn AURA?
Style.
Dashboard layout/materials.
Quiet Interior and standard features - it doesn't look like a Saturn!
Price is competitive!
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Saturn AURA?
Improve driver visibility - too many blindspots due to shape of front & rear windshield.
2007 Saturn AURA Review:
My wife owned a late 90's small 4dr Saturn, and I hated that car. Noisy, paper-thin doors and cheap hard plastics surrounding a hoarse underpowered engine. My 2007 Aura XE could not be any more different than that car.
I can't say enough about my overall satisfaction with this model. It is whisper quiet inside with plenty of power, features, and style to feel comfortable driving, and being seen driving by others. A two-fer! From the soft-touch dashboard, my eyes are drawn, daily, to the beautifully lit speedo & tach, with small touches like the guage needles that lite up to do a wicked cool white-on-black sweep when you turn the key! Completely unnecessary but yet passion-inspiring. The new GM stereo head unit is the best I've seen, with a quality look and good sound. And an iPod jack that works flawlessly. I have my iPod charger plugged into the conveniently placed power-plug and I couldn't be happier!
Another awesome feature of this car is the subtle ambient lighting that gives an "aura," if you will, of luxury. The door handles cast a beautiful amber glow onto the soft curves of the interior. Furthermore, the steering wheel audio/cruise/info display controls are a pleasure to use! They are small in size and are NOT designed for the Buick/Impala crowd...
My only criticisms are in regards to visibility and fuel economy. The front and rear windshields look great from the outside, but do not offer a wide vertical angle. I've been averaging about 19-21 MPG with the 3.5, and I have a 20 mile commute at highway speeds. Not impressive at all, but you have to pay for the confident passing torque you have available, I guess...
Having an XE is great, but the XR just improves with a sophisticated engine/tranny that I'm sure are excellent. For the value, I couldn't pass up the XE. A large midsize sedan with few, if any, reminders of that late 90's nightmare.
Test drive an Aura, you won't be disappointed!

Pros: What do you like about 2007 Saturn AURA?
I plan on purchasing a blue Aura for my Wife with the 3.5 liter and keeping it as basic as possible. It's a good value at just a little over $20k.
I've test drove one already and it's incredibly quiet. Takes bumpy roads and freeways very well. Handling seems to be top notch and I like how it's very closely styled similarly to the Opel version. Well, with the exception to the brake lights looking like a G6.
I'm looking forward to owning this vehicle. It comes with many standard features that make other vehicles more costly. My similarly equiped Mazda 6s (no, not trading this) had a sticker price of nearly $25k.
Oh, finally GM makes a hub cap that looks like a wheel. They made the steel 17" wheel into a spoke wheel. So the 5 spoked hub cap covers it up and looks like an alum. wheel.
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Saturn AURA?
The base engine would be better off with the 6speed auto, which may improve fuel mileage and possibly smoothness.
Rear brake lights look too much like a G6.
The cover over the center console cup holders broke when I was trying to open it. Seems a little flimsy.
2007 Saturn AURA Review:
I enjoyed driving this vehicle. It is more quiet than my Mazda 6 and feels more comfortable especially going over the many patches of asphalt that plagues I295 around Richmond VA.
The base engine, granted is the same pushrod as the old 2.8, 3.1 and 3.4 gm engines, produces a nice amount of power. It seemed to run much more smooth and quiet as compared to the previous engines listed above.
Stereo sounds terrific and looks good and easy to reach in the center console. I like the coloring scheme that Saturn used for the dash lighting. There are many vehicles out now that use red and Saturns yellow feels a bit upscale as compared to the red other vehicles use. I'm 6'2" and fit comfortably in this car. Drove it for about an hour and no back pains.

2007 Saturn AURA Review:
Beautiful car with great styling and curb appeal, many compliments from strangers on the look of the car, good handling and performance, sorry to see the line discontinued when Saturn finally figured out how to build a nice car.
Has flaws, but overall a nice car.

2007 Saturn AURA Review:
prolbems with radio not coming in very well, feels like it going to stall and now put into drive and not going at 1st and not the most smooth ride. Radio nothing they can do, stalling they have a ticket open and just did the not in gear today 5-4-08. only have 3,000 miles on it. already thinking of trading it in. I will give it a year maybe two, but if there's going to be a problem with the Trans at 3,000 miles is not a good sign. Can live with a bad radio.
