2008 Chrysler Sebring Review:
To my mind, the 2008 Sebring convertible is the most striking vehicle manufactured since the Chevrolet BelAir of 1957. While I was aware of the earlier models of Sebring, it was not until January of 2009 that I noticed the 2008 model. Of all the vehicles on the highways, the ’08 Sebring (including ’09 and 2010 models) is the only vehicle to catch my attention sufficient to elicit a strong ownership desire.
After researching the used-vehicle market and noting negative reviews on earlier Sebring models, I interpreted the documented problems with earlier models had been addressed by Chrysler engineers and the ’08 Touring model could fulfill my expectations.
By April, 2010, I figured any significant defects with any particular unit would be apparent in the vehicle history report. A VIN check of the unit I was considering gave me reasonable confidence of the vehicle's road worthiness. From the VIN check I determined the unit I was considering for purchase started out as a Maui rental car that subsequently was sold at a fleet-vehicle auction in Phoenix (these convertibles are painfully expensive in Canada). I bought it in Canada from its previous owner after a thorough vehicle inspection by an insurance-approved mechanic. The odometer registered 37,000 miles at the time I took over ownership.
My Sebring has a 2.7 litre V6 engine that has proven itself in the mountainous terrain of British Columbia where I live. It has ample power for the mountain passes, it is quiet, comfortable, reliable and reasonably fuel efficient (average of 8.2 litres/100km or ~33 miles/imperial gallon based on 5,000 miles driven). I consider my Sebring to be striking in appearance with above average performance. My only surprise so far is platinum spark plugs (much more expensive than I would have expected).
As further context, I am a senior citizen who never expected to own a convertible. Since purchasing this unit, driving has become a pleasure rather than just a necessity. I have found no basis to support the negative reviews I have seen regarding the ’08 Sebring. Little wonder this is reputed to be America's best-selling convertible.
I do love this car.

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Chrysler Sebring?
I like the stylish body design and the hard convertible top. There is plenty room in the back seat especially for a convertible. The heated/cooled cup holder is nice. The radio controls on the back of the steering wheel has come in very handy.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Chrysler Sebring?
The Mygig radio needs improvements especially with the Uconnect. With a call coming in and the top down, pressing the Uconnect button to answer will tell you the vehicle is not equipped with Uconnect, even though it is. Therefore the safety feature of being able to press a button on the dash to answer a call disengages when the top is down. You can still talk over the Uconnect with the top down but you have to answer with your cell phone first then the call will go over the radio/Uconnect. The Mygig also needs to have a search feature to be able to go directly to an alpha character when searching. Currently you have to start from the first page and page one at a time until you get to the song/artist you want to listen to.
2008 Chrysler Sebring Review:
Overall I really like this convertible and get more compliments than I could have ever imagined. I do like the design of the interior and exterior. Interior layout is very nice and works for me, such as the radio controls on the back of the steering wheel, wipers, and cruise controls layout. The console between the front seats has plenty of storage including coin holders. The exterior has a nice design and allows water drainage to keep water from getting in the interior or trunk when lifted. I've found plenty of room in the trunk even with the top down, but maybe I travel light.

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Chrysler Sebring?
Classy look, a ride comparable to the Mercedes 3 series I lost in an accident.
On par with the Altima I just got out of, quiet.
I like the seats they support my heavy build, handles well.
Excellent MPG.
Impressive acceleration for a 4 Cylinder 2.4L DOHC.
Great features even in the base model.
Love the sound system and my free year of Sirius.
Love the car
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Chrysler Sebring?
I would soften the interior somewhat, I don't mind the plastic, it can be maintained as long as you condition it with UV protective cleaners, tinting will also help.
Scratches easy, you have to be careful not the rough up the surfaces inside.
Softer seats, would make it more universally comfortable for a variety of passengers.
Trunk could definately be larger.
2008 Chrysler Sebring Review:
I originally went in to test the Chrysler 300, but I was not impressed from inside
(Car is too "bulky"). Tested the Sebring, love at first ride. Bought it immediately, loved the warranty. I really am satisfied with what I consider to be a unique exterior that is very distinctive, I am not an American car afficionado, however this car is eye catching, it looks like you spent a ton of money from the exterior.

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Chrysler Sebring?
Exterior and interior is stylish and distinctive.
Love the heated leather seats and premium sound system on my Limited model.
Unique "mellow" blue gauges.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Chrysler Sebring?
Too much hard plastic interior materials.
Six speed transmission clunky at times.
Chrysler can't seem to get the MPG out of their 3.5L engine like GM does.
Front center console eats up knee space and glove box door ergonomics not well designed.
Somewhat hard ride.

Faulty gear shift...will get stuck in park at some point and cost you a lot of money to fix. Chrysler dealers are aware of this but the dealers and manufacturers won't do anything about it. Please google 'faulty gear shift in 2008 Chrysler Sebrings' to read more about this.
2008 Chrysler Sebring Review:
My daughter is 20 and worked hard to purchase this car. We cannot afford to have it towed and repaired at this time so it is parked in the driveway. She is truly disappointed as am I and highly upset about this. I WILL be taking matters further because it is only fair that the manufacturer make right their wrong.
