Pros: What do you like about 2008 Ford Ranger?
1) Rugged and modular - was pretty easy to remove passenger side seat.
2) No mechanical failures of any kind since purchase.
3) Gives me plenty of clearance for usual Houston-area road flooding.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Ranger?
1) Needs a clothes hanger hook on passenger side, above the rear window glass.
2) Essentially no interior storage/carry space if you don't have a supercab. I removed passenger side seat to fit a suitcase/pet carrier.
3) I'd like the actual tire pressure read outs on dashboard.
4) Truck bed should be made of composite (like Toyota), not metal. Would have saved me cost of aftermarket bedliner.
5) Spare tire is incredibly hard to get at, near impossible in dark. Mount on truck bed wall instead.
6) Why is carpet permanently installed on floors? Should be rubber permanent with the optional removable carpet piece.

2008 Ford Ranger Review:
Solid little truck. Second Ranger I've owned, I'd buy it again.

No mechanical problems at all since purchase, other than original dealer closing. Have had repeated occasions that digital display on radio turns into gibberish - not due to weak battery.

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Ford Ranger?
Great little truck. XLT 4 L 4x4.

It averages about 23.4 m.p.g as long as I drive the speed limit, which I always do and I don't do rabbit starts. Great power and very responsive. It never seems to falter no matter how far I drive, it is the same every day. I have around 35,000 K's on it now, most of those where in the first year.

If I have to pass someone which I seldom do and all of a sudden things get tight like on coming traffic and I punch the throttle, MAN OH Man that little thing just jumps and you're gone. It's almost scary.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Ranger?
The one thing that really bugs me is the visibility of the trip meter, either the background color needs to be changed or the color of the digits.

It needs to be about six inches wider inside. The seats need to be leather covered, because small particles are so hard to remove from the material that is there now. I am waiting to buy the new ranger diesel when it comes on market, but I will still be keeping this one.

2008 Ford Ranger Review:
All I can say is that this is a fantastic sensible truck and for someone who has driven Ford 4x4 F250's most all my working years, that's saying something, this little ranger amazes me.

When you have to put a good size load on it just up and does the job.

I call it "Little Joe with an attitude".

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Ford Ranger?
Nice interior.
Solid ride.
Leather wrapped sterring wheel.
4.0 v-6 is a dependable engine (I have a '93 with 206'000 miles).
Class III hitch.
Rancho shocks, skid plates.
4 door super cab.
Center console and plenty of storage pockets, etc.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Ranger?
Factory bed liner.
Mud curtian between drivers front tire and engine compartment.
Needs oil pressure gage instead of idiot light.
Dual exhaust would be cool on the FX4.
Hood pistons to hold hood up instead of prop bar.

2008 Ford Ranger Review:
I have owned a 1993 Ranger Splash for 13 years. It has been a good Truck with 206,000 miles to date and still strong. I like the 4.0 engine. I wanted another Ranger but this time with the super cab.
I bought an '08 FX4 and have put 2,300 miles on it at the time of this review. I am averaging about 16mpg. The truck is nice, rides good, suspension feels tight and the ride height is right for me. However, this truck had/has some flaws. The passenger side window was scratched, like someone took a piece of sandpaper to it on the inside, the doors rattled and had wind noise at highway speeds. Also it appeared that a mud gaurd/curtian was missing in the wheel well between the drivers front tire and the engine compartment, there IS one on the passenger side. The dealer said a curtian does not come on the drivers side of the 2008's due to a wiring harness being in the way, however the wheel well has holes to attach one. There is a 1 1/2" area on the side bed panel that the paint is poor and there is a noise that is hard to explain coming from underneath after the 5 speed auto shifts into 2nd and 3rd when the truck is coming up to temp. Sounds like a bearing warble. (Is warble a word?) I looked, test drove and purchased this truck at night and did not see the visual flaws until the next day. The dealer took care of the door rattles and replaced the window but said they could not find the noise after trans shift. Overall I believe I will enjoy this truck for many years, just hope the noise I hear isn't in the engine, trans or transfer case.

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Ford Ranger?
Economical.
Design.
Fit and finish.
GREAT SMALL WORK TRUCK.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Ranger?
Don't fix what is the most dependable small truck on the market.

2008 Ford Ranger Review:
This vehicle rides fine, 2.5l 5spd has plenty of zip, never less than 25.5mpg CITY DRIVING. A great SMALL work truck designed very well. If in the market for a small truck you must test drive one and read the reviews of owners not the big cat car reviewers. THIS IS A GREAT VEHICLE.
