Pros: What do you like about 2008 Saturn VUE?
I LUUUUUUUUVVVVVVVVVV my 2008 Vue XR. It is my 2nd Saturn...first being a 1996 SW2 wagon (232,000 miles!!)
I named my Vue Lilly. I am thrilled every time I get in to drive. She is VERY sturdy with a lot of power! I feel invincible after having driven my wagon for so long. My first 6 cyl...love the power, but the speed limit around here is 35! Hard not to go over the speed limit.
We just took her on a 1200 mile trip. Gas mileage was not great, but the ride was awesome. The driving was not fatiguing at all like some other cars I've driven. Very comfortable road tripping!
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
The first thing that bothers me is that the chrome trim rings on the a/c vents next to the driver and passenger windows reflect in the side view mirrors; (my windows are tinted...don't know if that makes a difference), it is very distracting. When I glance in them I always think a car is right up next to me...especially when changing lanes or backing up. It's so distracting (really freaks me out!) that I am trying to come up with my own fix.
Another thing that is aggravating is the climate control. If you want to warm the air in increments, the air won't warm much past 75 degrees. If you want about 80 degrees or so you have to turn the knob all the way to the max. and then back off. It's aggravating to mess with because you have to keep playing with it to get the temp. you want. Kinda' dangerous while driving. You should be able to change from cool to warm in one motion!
I also have the problem with the trim on the back passenger window. The triangular piece is starting to pop off at the top, but it looks like the problem is the upper corner of the window has warped inward...it is not flush with the side beam. Taking it in for repair this month.
Also the turning radius is horrible...I don't even attempt u-turns any more.
Yes, the gas mileage is horrible, but I don't work so I don't put that much mileage on it.
2008 Saturn VUE Review:
The worst part of owning a Saturn now is that I miss the Saturn Family type of Service. Saturn service depts. were always wonderful to work with!
I've taken her to 2 different GM service depts. for oil change and tire rotation. They were rude idiots that didn't know anything about Saturns. I was also told that they won't honor any of the"fringe benefits" that I was promised from my original dealership..calling them "dealer perks"...such as free tire rotation for the life of the tires...
GM...bring back Saturn and quit sending me flyers telling me you will give me crap on a trade in for another GM vehicle! How insulting.
I really do love my Lilly! Started to name her Scenic...you know...Scenic Vue? Ha Ha!

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Saturn VUE?
I owned a 02 plastic Vue and loved it but, it was very noisy. The 08 is very quiet and feels more solid. The interior finish is much better. The stability control and traction control are a Great safety feature as are the extra air bags and four wheel disc brakes. It feels more substantial. It looks great, (I get lots of looks) and the V-6 feels plenty powerful.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
The 6-speed transmission is always hunting for a gear. The smallest grade will cause the transmission to downshift and it won't go into 6th gear until around 50 mph, that makes if difficult to get any good gas mileage. It always seems to be one gear lower than it should be. I am only getting about 16.5 miles per gallon and most of my driving is between 45 and 60 with cruise control. The Vue needs to offer a standard shift transmission, maybe then it would get a better Mpg. I'm a standard shift guy myself and I miss that in my 02 Vue.
2008 Saturn VUE Review:
I'm at 3800 miles now, had to have a trim piece on the back door window replace, cracked and blew off, was covered under warranty. I like the Vue and would consider again at this point. The only drawback is the very bad gas mileage. I may have to address this with the dealer at some point and see if there may be a problem with fuel management. Other than that, I'm enjoying the ride...

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Saturn VUE?
I like the exterior looks and smooth quiet ride. The interior looks like a more expensive vehicle with the cloth covered windshield pillar posts, door panels, and graphite trim. The truck seems very European in design, (that's because it is) I feel the four cylinder has plenty of power for a person who drives normally. I find the seats, instruments, and controls layout comfortable. I enjoy long trips in this truck.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
The plastic silver areas in the lower half of the steering wheel look cheesy and don't match the rest of the interior. The in dash compass and exterior temperature is misreading every few months. (It's been in for heater temperature reprogramming already) The shifter/brake pedal/ ignition key interlock has been replaced once and its now malfunctioning again 10 months later. (You can't remove the key easily.) The light gray interior cloth absorbs any spill or soiling instantly and looks grubby after a few months.
2008 Saturn VUE Review:
This is basically a nice truck and a great deal for the price. I drove a Ford Edge first, this was much nicer. I have been a ASE mechanic for 30 years and was initially impressed and really want to like it. It would be a great car if the quality control problems like the defective shifter interlocks and software reprogramming for the dash instruments could be taken care of. I work on Honda, Toyota, Audi, BMW, Subaru, GM trucks and Ford. Honda and Toyota makes nice vehicles but believe me, not every Honda or Toyota is trouble free and perfect from the day it was built, I fix em every day. If Saturn could tighten up the quality and advertise a bit more they have a winner. (I too wonder why you don't hear more advertising for Saturns.)

I love the whole CARUCK very much.
Smart looking exterior and interior.
I bought it used with only 15,000 on it off a Volvo used car lot.
Fully loaded, leather, sunroof, cd player etc. It also came with 20" custom wheels and low profile tires so it was hard to not notice this good looking ride.
EXTREMELY quick OMG. You have to hang on!

The turning radius is about the only thing that comes to mind.

Love it a lot. Might even stop buying vehicles for some time. This is my 28th vehicle in the last 40 years. We get compliments on it ALL the time from young and older folk.

I really like how the car looks externally. Very sharp and you can see the European design influence.
I am 6'4" and have plenty of headroom in this car and seats fit comfortably.
Plenty of power with the 3.6 V6 engine. The engine runs very quiet and you don't hear much highway noise when driving it.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
I wish they would have up put a power outlet by the front dash for cell phone or GPS power, makes it kind of difficult to stretch the cord from the center console.
I also think that they could have done a better job with the strut mounts, I have read of quite a bit of creaking and moaning in cold weather and sure enough, mine does it slightly. Nothing I cannot live with but still can be annoying.
2008 Saturn VUE Review:
For me, this is the perfect SUV. I came from a 2009 Chevy Malibu and was struggling to get in and out of it with a bad knee. This car has met or exceeded all my expectations so far. Bought the car used with 48,000 miles on it.

Exterior great, inside a bit cramped.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
4 cyl. engine is strong, but when using cruise, and go up a hill, at times will make soft engine increase, and other times it will hammer the engine, and scare you half to death!
Sticker said up to 26 mpg highway , best 21 mpg!! With gas prices that sucks!

I have many electrical problems. But due to the many Saturn dealers closing, they do not keep records, so no one knows why? We have had it towed to the dealer because it turns off at the stop light and does not restart. I like my Vue but it does have a few issues.

2008 Saturn VUE Review:
2008 SATURN VUE IS A GREAT SMALL SUV. I HAVE ONE WITH 34,000 MILE AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEM. IT DEPENDS ON HOW YOU DRIVE AND THE MAINTENANCE YOU DO. I RECOMMEND IT ..... I AM PLEASED WITH IT.

Overall this car is a very good car. Perfect power to weight ratio, looks sharp on the road, good on fuel, nice interior.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
We have had to take this car in for repairs on the sensors 3 times. Engine light and brake light. Molding fell off the car, the little pocket on the left side, the spring broks, radio stopped working front emblem red color came off etc. As I said they are minors but if we didn't have any warranty it would cost us.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
I have had my vue for 2 years and have had no mechanical problems at all. My only complaints are that I cannot reach the steering wheel when my seat is as far back as it should be for me to drive comfortably (I'm only 5'6, and no I don't have short arms!). I have to drive with my hands at 5 and 7, not 10 and 2. Very uncomfortable.
Also, I bought the vue because I thought it would be perfect for kids. Convertible carseats don't fit rearfacing in the vue. Not even in the middle.

We looked around for awhile before we bought our Vue. The other small SUVs where not made as well or were far more expensive. I have no real complaints as of now. I can't be mad that I chose a car that's just too small. It runs great, has tons of power, and I got a great deal on it! I love my vue!
