Pros: What do you like about 2009 Dodge Journey?
I like the style of the exterior and the comfort of the interior.
I like the floor/seat storage.
Being able to haul 7 people is great (little people in the middle seats as it gets tight.).
It drives great so far.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Dodge Journey?
I would move the radio higher up on the console as it seems dangerous to operate while driving. Also, the controls for the mileage and the other info. are placed in an awkward place to get to easily.
The seats in the middle are difficult to handle, especially with 3 different handles to choose from.
It has a huge blind side in the middle side.
The interior shouldn't have light gray, although it looks sporty, it isn't great with kids.
The exterior paint chips easily and the bumper feels extremely weak. It scratches easily when taking items in and out of the back.
2009 Dodge Journey Review:
Overall, I have not had any major problems with this vehicle. I have yet to test it in snow and cold weather.
My kids feel comfortable and have no issues with space. It is a great size and handles well in average conditions. IT looks nice and the wheels are sporty.
I feel confident in the Dodge name and look forward to seeing how the Journey does overall.

We have a 2009 R/T model. Purchased in Fall of 2008 for probably 6$-$8000 less than comparably equipped brands.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Dodge Journey?
Put the radio higher up on the dash. Have steering wheel controls, but still distracting to glance down to see what station you have on or check the time.
More storage compartments in the dash (like the Caliber has).
Put clothes hangars in rear compartment. I think the ones in our Journey were installed backwards. The hooks are about 6 inches behind the front seats.
2009 Dodge Journey Review:
I have driven Dodge and Chrysler products for over 45 years and have found them very reliable. I have had several vehicles in the past 25 years that I have driven over 150,000 miles, some over 200,000 miles with minimal repairs and mechanical problems.
I think about half the people who are always having car problems create them themselves because they don't know to drive!! Or understand what makes a vehicle run. I read reviews and shake my head. There are incompetent mechanics around, also.

I like the 3.8L engine. Has plenty of passing power.
Tons of storage.
Handles great in the snow.

Found a rattling noise coming from the wheel wells at high speeds. I found it was coming from the plastic covers in the wheel wells. A couple of screws and that solved that problem.
2009 Dodge Journey Review:
Overall I am very happy with my Journey. I have had no problems with mine and I have had it for 8 months and have 25,000km on it.
I am very impressed with the ride quality. It rides like a luxury vehicle. I have the upgraded stereo system with subwoofer and it kicks! Mine is loaded with everything except DVD and third row seating. I love the Uconnect.
Being a brand new vehicle I am sure there will be problems. It happens to most vehicles when they are first introduced. That's the chance you take when you buy a first year vehicle. I have been lucky so far and have had absolutely no problems with mine.
I shopped around for similar vehicles and the Journey by far was the cheapest and had the most options. It also had the smoothest and quietest ride. I would recommend this vehicle.

Like the amount of storage.
Like the power that is available with the v-6 engine.
Was going to trade the 2009 Journey in for a 2011 Equinox. There was no comparison: Equinox was noisy, not as good a ride as the Journey, not as spacious, and the basic Equinox interior seat design was nauseating.
The Journey gets gas mileage as it was advertised. The Equinox gets better mileage, but the cost savings for fuel did not justify the loss of all of the other categories where the Journey outshined the Equinox.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Dodge Journey?
Front brakes had to be replaced earlier that I would have liked. Dodge has a repayment program for this problem, so they recognize the problem also.
I have no other cons - the vehicle is great. Not as big as a Traverse (which in my book is too big), not too small, etc, etc.

Overall quite an amazing vehicle. Could things be improved? Yes there are a few, but generally, this is a great vehicle.

Like how it looks from the outside like everyone else.
Rides smooth still waiting for the snow to come so we can be able to see how it does.
Price was good on it - right where it needed to be for us.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Dodge Journey?
Dodge needs to do a recall on the brakes had to replace pads and rotors on front at 15,000 miles. Was told back brakes were fine by dealer but could tell the back tires were not even taken off to check. We still had to pay $100 to get front brakes replaced at dealer.
Was having vibration coming from the front on both sides, dealer said the driver side wheel bearings had to be replaced. So they were replaced and it was back in 4 days later with same issue.
Something was wrong with the power steering pump from factory so it was fixed.
Again, all these issues and under 18,000 miles at the time. Now we are just a little over 21 thousand miles going back to dealer side vents are not blown goodair just barely coming out and the smart ass dealer asked me if the vents were open they are so rude as hell. And also hearing whipping noise coming from the cowl at around 60-70 mph. So this will be another fun day at dealers with the rude service manager.
The seats should have some kind of stain protection on them - they stain too easy. The backup camera and radio is in a wrong location having to look down to back up and to look at what station you're on. We would all hope Dodge would do something about their product but looks like they don't care.
2009 Dodge Journey Review:
It's nice, roomy, what we were looking for and price was right. We needed something bigger for our future plans. We had Eclipse with over 109 thousand miles - never had any trouble like we having with this journey under 21,500 miles. We got over 80,000 miles on the front brakes and over 100,000 miles on, back brakes. Nothing was wrong with Eclipse, we needed a future family car. But I don't think I will ever go back to an American made or at least a Dodge again after this one. The Chevy's are nice - would consider Chevy or Ford over Dodge anytime after having these issues with this Journey!

The interior (we often use ALL the seats with our Crew).
Storage.
Entertainment system.

Many issues with brakes and rotors.
Completely held hostage by ONE 19' replacement tire option.
Transmission is sluggish At times.
2009 Dodge Journey Review:
A reasonably comfortable ride for what was paid.
A good vehicle for the Canadian climate.
Dodge MUST stand behind their product and issue a recall on the brakes/rotors issue or instruct their Dealers to develop a low/no cost fix.
The Kuhmo tire problem has to be resolved. Again here Dodge has to "get in the game and stand behind their product".

We bought our 2009 Journey as a used car with 50000 km. on it.
It looked great in red paint and was in excellent condition. It was a former rental.
We like the ride and peppy performance.
The storage is good and it is a comfortable ride.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Dodge Journey?
The only thing that happened so far is after having to make a panic stop from high speed on the highway the rotors are warped from excessive heat and the brakes surge now all the time. We checked with our dealer and they would be happy to repair them at my cost. From all the above remarks about the problems with the brakes etc. I'd better start a repair fund for my Journey. We could all learn to drive differently by braking as gently as possible when you can.
I'm also looking for better gas mileage with my 3.5 V6. Tried a performance chip with no improvement.
2009 Dodge Journey Review:
For the average consumer, this vehicle could cost too much to maintain. So they will not re-purchase Journey #2. But I doubt if the boys in the big glass house worry about that....

Wow, so much to mention because everything is well thought out for comfort, style, handling and tons of space everywhere. Rides great too! Miles per gallon is not bad compare to our last 2 monsters especially that Jimmy. I called that one the Anti Christ cause it came straight out of hell...
