Pros: What do you like about 2009 Kia Borrego?
Styling, inside and out.
Ok gas mileage for its size.
Handles very well.
Easy to get in and out of, I'm 6'6".
Lot of room in the back with third seat down.
So far I've had no problems in 5000 miles. I think the quality is very good especially for the price.
The dealer has been very helpful with any questions or maintenance I needed.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Kia Borrego?
The ride is awful. Every bump transmits into the steering and the seat.
I do not like the 5 speed transmission and the way it shifts.
This would be much better if the torque converter did not immediately lock when going into 4th gear. It ruins the acceleration at low speeds and in traffic. The manual shift would be better if once you selected 4th or any other gear that after stopping it would up shift back to the gear selected. My Tahoe does this.
2009 Kia Borrego Review:
It is not a bad vehicle. It has a couple of things that really bother me.
If I weren't upside down on it I would trade it off today.
I wonder how long parts will be available since it is out of production.

I would improve the Borrego by getting myself a Radar detector because it is very easy to speed and not know it.
2009 Kia Borrego Review:
LOVE IT!! I drove quite a few other crossovers when looking for a new vehicle and it's the best I drove. Performance is great.
I don't know how these other people drive their Borrego but I get at a minimum 21mpg in mine (v6).
Interior is roomy and comfortable.
Exterior is great compared to other vehicles that make crossovers look like station wagons on steroids. I love my Borrego!!

Great acceleration.
Fit and finish is as good as my 4runner.
Very good 3rd row seating.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Kia Borrego?
Poor gas mileage. Avg 16 mpg in mix driving.
Too harsh of a ride.
Quality questionable.
2009 Kia Borrego Review:
I brought my EX V6 knowing it has been discontinued, but got 10k off the list price. I was initially excited about the purchase, but at 15k miles, the dealer told me all 4 brakes were warped as it would shake when slowing down. KIA dealership service dept was not very helpful as basically the 100k warranty they hold over your head to get everything service on schedule or it is not covered. Which the brakes of course were not covered, especially since I don't tow and it started happening before 12k. The chrome wheels finish on EX is not very quality either as it would rust if not polished consistently, kinda wish I got the alloy finished instead.
On positive side, it is very quick off the line and passing is very fast even for the v6 with 7 people in it, though mpg suffers. I like the interior and leather seats. The extra width in space is great and it has a very quiet ride. (Excluding the feeling every bump on the road) Like the extra features auto headlight, 3 signal turns light, side mirror light and heated....
For the price of 23k out the door for a EX V6 with leather is not too bad.. Just wished KIA had better dealership that honor the products they sell... eg. Toyota or Nissan.

Pros: What do you like about 2009 Kia Borrego?
I have the 6 cylinder LX and love the vehicle. This crossover has incredible power, the first car I have ever seen with a speedometer that goes to 150.
The exterior is great, the lines are attractive and the finish is first class.
The interior is very attractive and user friendly, 6 airbags, how can you go wrong??
The red dash lights and the sound system make the interior very comfortable.

The rear window should go down. I think I would also like to see rear air instead of the funky little vent on the back of the console.
As most other new cars the stock tires had to be replaced, cheap Hankook tires were done at 27k.
2009 Kia Borrego Review:
Love this vehicle, I only wish they would put it back into production, I would love to see a new model for 2012 or 13.

Everything from the looks to the gas tank is mind-blowing. I was barely past E and I put $30 in and it took me past the tick mark on half a tank!
The interior is great, I am more of a cotton than a leather person. The space is wonderful! For this car to be as big as it is, it's awesome on quick turns and tight spaces.
All in all the car is worth your time and money.

The transmission could be a lot smoother....how else would I improve a 2009 Kia Borrego? Asking Kia to make more of these! Once they finally get a great car, they want to stop making it. Typical!

The vehicle fit and finish is outstanding.
The V-6 engine is very powerful and fuel economy not bad for the size.
Super tight turning radius too!
Zero problems at 28000 miles.

It is roomy, handles well and the interior is fantastic.
The audio system is terrific.
I haven't had any problems with mine and remain very happy with the vehicle.
Too bad it's not in production anymore.
My dealer experience has been great - no complaints.

It is too light on snowy roads. Get rid of the rear wheel drive.
If I had known that it would be taken out of production I wouldn't have bought it.

Love the way it drives & looks.

Improve the brake rotor quality.
Warped brake rotors at 15,000 miles. Dealer said problem caused by excessive heat build up but I have never had this problem before and I haven't changed the way I drive. Heat problem cannot possibly be caused by the way the car was driven.
Poor engineering in the brake system has to be the culprit. Dealer said problem not covered under warranty???
2009 Kia Borrego Review:
Overall a very good vehicle for the money, but local dealer service not acceptable. Under staffed. Took 6 hours to get a brake rotor job done that I was promised would take only 2 hours. I brought the car in at 6:30 A.M. (first customer of the day) and car wasn't ready till 12:30.

This is the most car for the price of anything on the market now. The ex with all options is $15000 to $20000 less than competition. This is my first Kia and I checked all its competition before purchasing the 2009 Borrego.
The fit and finish is great and all options work very well.
The Navigation and infinity radio are amazing and much better than most others on market.

Automatic rear lift gate.
6 speed transmission with V6.
