Pros: What do you like about 2009 Kia Spectra?
Safety features, look, comfort.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Kia Spectra?
Change colours used for the instrument panel - matt silver on black just does not work and makes it very hard to read especially the speedometer.
2009 Kia Spectra Review:
This is my second Spectra5. I loved my 2006 Spectra5 and felt it was reliable, comfortable, easy to drive and had good safety features so much so that I gave it to my son for his first car after getting his license and replaced mine with the new 2009 model. Pretty much seems the same except - and this to me is a big design flaw - the instrument panel now has a black background with silver needles and on the speedometer, a matt silver ring inside of which, on the black background are the MPH figures. With this colour combination it makes it very hard to read (unless illuminated) and impossible if you are wearing sunglasses - essential eye wear in the Arizona summer. I emailed my concerns to Kia and their response left, on my answering machine, was "change your sunglasses"! Did they not think that would be the first thing I would try? Made no difference anyway. I used to recommend this little car to everyone, not any more though.

The doors open wide enough for my disabled husband to enter and leave with ease.
Large trunk and the ease in laying rear seat flat.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Kia Spectra?
The material is terrible that went into making this car!!
2009 Kia Spectra Review:
I rate this vehicle as the worst car I have ever owned. Within 3 months it started to rust!! Kia did and will do NOTHING! The standard radio fades on AM stations in downtown Calgary, driving under an overpass and if more than 1 18-wheeler is passing me. Again, Kia does NOTHING! I complained so long they installed a new radio that does same thing!! It is the rust that has me so angry and Kia, I will NEVER buy another, recommend a KIA or suggest anyone even rent one!!

At first I thought it was a great car but I am against that decision now and wish that I didn't get rid of my Expedition to buy this car.
Cons: How would you improve 2009 Kia Spectra?
Car cutting out on ice no explanation as to why and not really wanting to do anything about it but call it an accident guess they are waiting for someone to get killed before they react!!!! I will be getting rid of this piece of junk very soon. But my lawyer is getting involved. Tire pressure goes down real easy, interior is starting to fade.
2009 Kia Spectra Review:
I was driving down the highway last week and it was icy and a car in front of me slammed on their brakes and I swerved to miss them and the car died on the highway and I hit a guardrail. And when I spoke with Kia they were little to no help but my insurance company is going to be speaking with them.

Cons: How would you improve 2009 Kia Spectra?
The speedometer does not work properly and the dealership will not fix it. I just thought that when you drive at 70 mph the speedometer would indicate 70 mph. The car is brand new with less than 3000 miles on it. The thing that I hate is that the dealership agrees to the fact that the speedometer is off but also says that there is no fix for it and we just have to live with it. My wife and I are going to get rid of the car and buy a different car and never buy from KIA again. I would not recommend buying one and would talk anyone out of buying one if they are even thinking about it.
2009 Kia Spectra Review:
Like I said DO NOT BUY A KIA you will be truly pissed off with the customer service at the dealer, online and the phone. They do not want to take responsibility for their defective cars.
