Pros: What do you like about 2010 Honda Insight?
Nice fit and finish.
Handles well.
Better design than the Prius.
Excellent brakes.
Fog lights add pizazz to front end.
Econo mode off for low temp.
Weather seems to improve mileage.
Front seats are comfortable, even during long trips.
Fuel economy averages in the low 40's range.
Cons: How would you improve 2010 Honda Insight?
Too noisy! Add insulation to Insight and all Hondas!
Horn is pretty pathetic so I added a CR-V horn!
Needs an interior hatch release(cable) as hatch will not open when battery is dead!
Doors are too light and tinny!
Back seat is too cramped!
Be nice if engine shut off at stop lights would stay off!
The CVT could operate more smoothly!
Would appreciate brighter back-up lights!

Fuel economy is better than advertised, and that's weird.
I like the look of it. It's Prius with an edge.
Cons: How would you improve 2010 Honda Insight?
I wish Honda can figure out to make the hybrid system to accelerate better when the driver needs it. I am environmentally conscious, and don't drive abruptly usually. But when I need to accelerate fast, Insight doesn't respond to me as it should. I know that it may sacrifice the fuel economy a bit, but I wish I just had the option.
2010 Honda Insight Review:
I shopped between the Prius and Insight. Even though Prius had better fuel economy, I bought Insight for its handling, price and Honda reliability.
So far, I love it.
I wonder if Honda can turbocharge the engine, so when I need it, it could accelerate to fast freeway traffic, or zoom past the slow trucks. I would use it only when I really need to.

Exterior styling.
Dashboard design and layout, easier to see than Prius center layout. Dashboard Eco feedback and info on how hybrid system is working really does make you drive more efficiently.
Getting 47.5 avg on 900 miles of mostly suburban driving.
Lots of conveniently placed interior storage.
Handling good, gives the feeling of tight maneuverable small car.
Electric motor give good pickup from start.
Cons: How would you improve 2010 Honda Insight?
Needs a water temp gauge.
Should come with floor mats.
In cold temps, transmission is slow to engage on start-up.
Engine should stay off longer at stop lights, seems to want to restart in cold temps.
When braking softly to a stop, it speeds up slightly at 7mph as regen braking disengages.

Overall I am very happy with this car and would recommend it. The hybrid system makes it very interesting to drive.

2010 Honda Insight Review:
Insight is back! But not quite.
What's back, and even better than before, is the obvious: the design, the performance, and the obvious Honda reputation. Four doors most definitely add to the benefits.
What's not back is the fuel economy. And it's not even as good as the new Prius. Whatever happened to the original Honda's innovation? Honda was the first to market a hybrid (as seen in John Travolta's "Be Cool"). Honda just dropped the ball, and let Toyota take the lead on hybrid technology. I expected much more from Honda.
My next car is, I hope, the Clarity, if Honda doesn't miserably fumble on fuel cell, like they did on hybrid.

Exterior - Very smooth, did notice some "orange peel on panel surfaces.
Performance - Needs to have the engine and drive train improved. Not as good as my traded in 06 Honda civic hybrid.
Battery too small.

See above. Also Why is there NO Engine water temperature on Dash???? At 75 mph by the time the alarm light goes on you may have lost the eng.
Why do you NOT have the radio controls on the steering wheel?

I do not get very good gas mileage. Trip to Yuma and return, best estimate 38.4 mph.

Video game like driving makes you relearn a "Greener Way" to drive.

Noisy when pushed.
Paddle shifter is redundant.
Nav.Opt. too much clams.

IT LOOKS GREAT ON THE OUTSIDE, SPORTIER THAN THE PRIUS AND I GET REALLY GOOD GAS MILEAGE-ABOUT 45 MPG. ALSO, I LOVE THE HATCHBACK-HAS PLENTY OF ROOM.

I AGREE THAT IT IS A BIT NOISY WHEN ACCELERATING TO GO UP HILLS AND I WISH IT WOULD HAVE HAD THE OPTION FOR A SUNROOF.

The seats are very comfortable..
The DASH IS WAY BETTER THAN TOYOTA PRIUS. The Prius's dash is too small, too far away from the driver and the driver has to look to 30 degrees to an angle to see the gages, which at high speeds can result in death.
I also like the console in the insight, which is 100% better than the stupid looking empty arch design in Toyota Prius, which is the ugliest, I have ever seen.

You shouldn't have to pay $1400 to $1800.00 for Cruise Control. I would like to see it included in next year's base model.
Needs to have a way BIGGER BATTERY.
Get rid of the CVT trans and use what Prius uses, planetary gearing.
Too much engine and transmission belt drive noise when going up hill.

Not a bad car. I would have bought one if it were not for the cruise control costing $1800.00 more than the base model.

Pros: What do you like about 2010 Honda Insight?
Great mileage- getting same highway mpg at 55-60 mph as I do at 65-70. Approx 52 mpg. Short in-town trips I'm getting 42 mpg. Have owned since early June and have averaged 48.6 mpg combined over 523 miles.
For me, plenty of power to accelerate from 55 to 70 in order to pass on highway quickly or at on-ramp.

Slight blind spots on both left and right curves (not 90 degree turns).

Exterior styling is a better refinement of the basic Prius design than Toyota's done with their 2010 upgrade.
Cons: How would you improve 2010 Honda Insight?
It desperately needs a better transmission. Toyota's power-split device puts the Honda to shame. Hard acceleration and hill climbs cause the Insight's internal combustion engine to really wind up and make a lot of noise (compared to the Prius).
2010 Honda Insight Review:
Great car. It's close enough in fuel economy to the Prius so that buyers can choose either the Honda or the Toyota based on personal preferences for styling, interior comfort, color, and brand loyalty. It's nice to finally have a worthy alternative to the Prius.
